right, I really like the abl 303 but its PC only.
And i started thinking, why cant mac read vsts for pc, after all they can both read dll. Okay so the mac cant read .exe files, can you just copy the dll? Im a logic/mac user, meaning I get AU versions of some vst's and thats if im lukcy........I hate you emagic and apple

No it isn't possible without any simulation or emulation layer. DLLs are specifically compiled for Windows with PC processors (x86 that is).
If you hate Emagic and Apple that much, why don't you buy a PC?

It doesn't really work like that ... Sort of like trying to cross-breed chickens and horses. Not very easy unless you do some serious source code modding

If you're after a cheap but well sounding bass AU, try u-he Zoyd or Airy's TB-303. They are both free.

Often, DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain code - instructions to be excecuted by the CPU, often utilising different parts of the operating system too.
The reason that .dll files are incompatable across MPC7xxx (Apple's G3's G4's, and G5's) and x86 CPUs is exactly the same reason that .exe files are incompatable. Interestingly, Darwin[1] supports "fat binaries" - excecutable files containing code for both platforms. Forever, Kim. [1] Darwin is Apple's Unix-like operating system that forms the core of OSX. Interestingly, Darwin runs on Apple hardware AND x86 hardware.

don't forget the muon tau2 option which works with macosx really well, if you use logic it works with the adpater perfectly, and is very very low cpu. granted i'd love to see a step sequencer on it but the sound is good, and muon have suggested they will update it. |
