Which version are you using? I've been asked to put it back in when I've reinstalled the OS before, but after that, it's never asked me again. Confused

I dont have battery so I dont know if this will work..

but I know on other software it does.

what you should try is a virtual cddrive program that will load the entire cd into a space on your hard drive and then create it's own "virtual" cd drive for it..

that way you never have to pop in the disk over and over again.. saves on frustration and from scratching the cd so much. Smile

I've never considered once a month to be a problem. I prefer that to some other copy protection methods.

What the hell? Hmmm.. I just found my reciept for Battery. Got it Nov 2002, and it's NEVER asked me for the disc except for install, and reinstall when I just copied my directory back over. I launch Cubase QUITE a bit too, over and over, so I'd think I'd see it by now. I wonder why it does it more for some people, and not others. Watch, now I'll get it 3 times in a row. Confused

Well, I'm using Version 1.0.1, but not 1.0.1.4. Maybe that's it? When does the CD beg screen come up? When you launch your host app, or when you launch Battery? If it's Battery, then that's probably why, as I've tended to use DR-008 more for drums. If it's during the launch of the host, then I have no idea. Confused

Try uninstalling Battery, Then use any program to clean your registery so it'll clean Native Instruments keys from the registery. Then reinstall battery.
If that wont help I guess it would be hard for you to fight a Native Instruments bug... You could email their support.
A Thing you should know about battery is that it doesn't sync good at all in Cubase , happenned to me in a latest track of mine.
Had a closed hihat going in 2/2 and it was totaly off sync, when I used Intakt instead it was working perfectly... Battery is too old I guess.

You are the very very first person who says that. Battery is on the timing like nothing else (Cubase 5.1, SX) 2/2 3/4 4/4...best sync, maybe DR008 is like it but so far Battery is da best!!

I think there is something wrong with your midi configuration.

That's what happened to me with Dynamo. It asked me for the CD so often that I eventually just uninstalled it and stopped using it. It asked for the CD when I launched the host often enough that it was too much. I'd definately consider once a month to be far too often. Especially if I had other software also asking for a CD once a month.

Battery is off because your MIDI interface is off. Trust me, I'm painfully aware of this having an EMagic AMT8 using Steinberg Cubase SX. Confused Bastards! Evil or Very Mad Anyway, I got MOST of it fixed pretty well though after some fiddling with my system.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've been using Battery a lot more lately though, but yes, DR-008 has gotten a lot more milage out of me than Battery.

I have only ever been asked after install and i use it all the time. Im using the first version the shipped, never bothered with the updates.

You could always download a cracked version, i do that with some stuff which gets anoying asking for CDs, mostly games though.
