fXpansion's DR-008's synth kick drums will pound your head off. Sweet stuff.

Have you tried Drumdragon or drumsynth (not a VSTi but free).

http://www.mda-vst.com/

Of course FLStudio has Fruit Kick, which does nice bassdrum sounds

Synth 1 works for me.

DR-008 is good because you have dedicated modules for kick drums.

The ultimate drum synth VSTi (capable of some nasty kick drums) has got to be Attack though....hasn't it?

Drumatic would be a good choice if you are after something free. I love the ephonic stuff, especially this and LoFi (goes nice with drums too Wink).

Of course you can usually synthesize a nice kick drum with a lot subtractive synths, but to use something dedicated is a lot quicker Smile

Nobody's mentioned MicroTonic? For shame. Smile

the synthesized kick drum module in RM4 is my favorite for dance oriented kick drums by far

Yeah, I think DR-008's kick module is based off of Zap's "Stomper (Hyperion)". Neat little utility.

And I have no use for MicroTonic in my music.

...

BUT DAMN IF I STILL WANT IT!!! Very Happy

thx a lot for all your replies

there seems to be some new stuff to try I didn't know about. Smile

pro-sounds -> i did use attax some time ago and i find the sound drumatic a lot warmer, though it doesn't as many features. imo attax sounds a bit 'plastic'

odo -> i'll try your "psy-drums" for sure Wink

Hey 604remix. As I assume your a goa(604)head you may want to look at this link...

Surely this would apply with another other frequency generator as well. Enjoy.

Yeah microtonic rocks! too bad it produces a nasty initial click sometimes if you make kickdrum/tom type sounds (I guess they should add some kind of volume envelope to control this) but that can be cured by sampling the sound to your fave drumsampler and control the volume envelope there.

There is still also the free ErsDrums from the makers of Iblit/PolyIblit.

Check the instrument links right-top corner for that one..

I use fxpansion DR008, I love it. Synthesized AND sampled drums.
There's also Linplug RMIV, a similar VSTi, never tried it myself.
Reaktor has a few ensembles with synthesized drums.
Lots of people use Waldorf Attack, I never tried it.

Stomper and a sampler.

http://www.lysator.liu.se/~zap/stomper/

Great for just about any drum. It can take a sample envelope it, fm it, mix it, pitch env it, etc.

Oh yeah and last time I checked it was free!
