AuthorTopic: Anyone using D'cota

I tried it out in a music store, months and months age and was really impressed. The store no longer has a demo. I also remember some people saying it was buggy.

Anyone using it?

D'cota is decent. I used it quite a bit last year and you can coax some interesting sounds from it. That said, its aint no Tera. Id be looking towards Tera 2 if i were you.

I actually live in the middle of a wine vinyard. Germany has the best white wine I have ever tasted. My wife is from Holland which poses its own possiblities or distractions, depending on your outlook Laughing

rrrrrrrrr (now I got it)

D'cota is a fabulous synth and you can really get some amazing sounds out of it, same goes for PLEX, those synths arrived too soon i feel, people were after other kinda synthsounds at the time of their releases.

Reminds me of the TB303,TR 909, everyone wanted to get rid of them for a couple of bucks, but then they became the most sought after boxes.

Actually, i find some of the latest VSTis with trancey banks really annoying, i prefer more neutral sounds with character instead of 128 presets of sound alike cheesy. but that's just my opinion.

99$ is a cool deal for d'cota or should i say for a prematurely Vintage VSTi. Very Happy

I've used d'cota quite a few times -
i recon it's very good. Banks for it are
nice too. Great thing its got this randomize option (for lazy people like me)
for slightly tweaking the presets (or creating new ones). I like the general look of it too

Now that Tera is updated to Tera 2, does Dakota do anything that Tera 2 does not do better?

D'cota is one of those VSTs, I always meant to buy...

I just got impOScar, so I might pass... but I do like D'cota quite a bit Rolling Eyes

hi david,

even at the price difference TERA 2 fixed so many user friendly things that it's easier to work with than D'cota and has rewire, 16 channel multimimbral, a very nice mixer and step sequencer that's polyphonic.

I agree D'cota and PLEX were much better than the shelf lives they had but that's the Steinberg, service? You want service? attitude.

They didnt' know what to do with those synths, the very cool Xphraze or anything not based on samples. And all those synths were designed out of Steinberg's house, D'cota by the designer of VirSyn's synths including TERA 2 and Michael Kleps with Wizoo in Xphraze' case.

The way they've been working Steinberg will never see a penny from me for anything they do. They are the poster children for poor marketing and mediocre customer service.

I;ve had pretty good luck with Steiny, but far from great Confused

I am still using SX as my main host...

Maybe when Tracktion 2 is out I may switch over full-time.

I'm having a great time with impOSCar, so D'cota is just a maybe at the moment

I bought this a while ago. It's a great synth (worth a more than $99) with two unique forms of synthesis (unless you have Tera), plus a very advanced VA section (with a uniqe filter!) It dosen't get as much use as say my FM7 or Pro-53 but it's definately got it's place in my arsenal.
