AuthorTopic: arplite - free arpeggiator synth with shuffle

don't think there's any freeware arp synths out that shuffle, so threw this together. oc chris kerry did all the real work with his kickass arpeggiator modules.

-edited 2x-

the first v. i u/led had an out of date bpm detection module in it.. this has been updated, so in all probability, this is the version to use:
http://www.dancetech.com/file-library/plugin/arplite.zip
it should track tempo changes in your sequencer. when the clock is stopped, it will not arpeggiate, but should play. if you hear no sound, try running the clock..

this second version..
http://www.panicnow.net/~xoxos/arplite_bpm.zip
has a thingy wedged onto the gui to set the bpm.. the circuit is time-tested but as of this evening there's a chance that the module that detects a running clock is outdated, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.. hopefully the first one works for you!

enjoy!

Hmm... seems cool, but in FL it makes no sound when it has Arp mode on =(.

no sound in EnergyXT either! Confused

i used a module that captures the host's bpm so it should automatically sync - if you're getting no sound, start the sequencer! Smile

if it still doesn't work, i can pull that module and put in a user-settable bpm, then i guarantee it will make noise :p

Ooh... so it only is triggered when the sequencer is playing?

...

Is there any way around that? That's really inconvenient =(

exept in EnergyXT which doesn't send that info - yet.

I still cant get it to work in FL with the seq running Help Sad

sure. i'm not getting it so can't replicate it.

try setting the arp mode to 'off.' if that doens't work, i can still fix it, but please let me know if it does work for you when the clock is running.

http://www.panicnow.net/~xoxos/arplite_bpm.zip

this should fix both problems - just wedged a manual entry for the bpm onto the gui, so not beautiful :p just noticed it's got all kindsa crazy bpm times on the differentpatches, so no clue what the presets will sound like..

..if you're reading this thread in a few days, i'll prolly be moving the file - just threw it up on panicnow cos it's a quicker u/l

hope that does it!

-edit- damn - t-willy posted too fast to be using the "fixed" version, so there are now two versions.. see top post!

..if i'm not confusing the hell out of you by now.. Smile

the *first* version has been updated - turns out the module that detects bpm was out of date with the synthedit sdk code.. so atm the thought is that this first version (the one w/ the dancetech url) is the one to try..

the *second* version with the panicnow url.. (and the #s for manually setting the bpm) uses a module to sync to the transport run.. and currently it looks like this module is out of date.. sooo.. if the new first version doesn't work, there will be a second, second version tomorrow... Smile

anyone still there, g'nite Smile

This is way cool xoxos!

Tried in :fruity: and found no problems, only that you have to hit play to actually hear something, but I think I can live with that.

Two things, can you do a version that sends MIDI to arpeggiate other synths?

The second, I offer you to make a skin for this, and for the MIDI versin if you want. I love the sliders and all controls but the labels and the main logo... I think I can do something cool to give it a better look. Don't hesitate to mail me if you want ok?

I love the size of the interface yeah!!!

what's wrong with the skin? :p the gui is a little compressed, but i reckon smaller gui=less pixels to shuffle about. apart from that, i don't have much incentive to collaborate with someone who lobs insults at me when it pleases them.

i can do a version that sends midi, buuut... i'll make it a $5 shareware version since it would kill my shareware arp synth. i've never received a penny for any of my plugs and i'm unemployed/starting my own music business atm so prudent for me.

still interested?

btw the "second" version of the "first" version :p (dt link..) should play in non-arp mode when the clock is stopped.

thanks for letting me know that it's working! Smile
