AuthorTopic: arp2midi second stage beta

if the first beta didn't work with your system/host, try this version -

added:
• set midi receive and transmit channels to avoid midi echo
• this v. should work when host is stopped
• 8 step gate-pulse sequencer (final version will feature adjustable sequence that can reset on measure et c.)
• funky colour scheme
• transpose control -
- allows midi notes sent on separate channel to transpose arpeggio based around C3, eg. D3 will transpose output up 2 semitones
- transpose reset mode restarts arpeggio

* octave range can only be set to 2 or 3 octaves (this plug is for host compatability testing purposes :p)

i'm hoping the midi channel settings will enable this plug-in in most hosts. as a safeguard, there are two versions of this beta -

if you're familiar with synthedit, there is an option to save the plug-in 'as a synth.' the first beta used this option; this v. is abailable with the option checked and unchecked.. i don't know if it will make any difference at all..

'plug-in as synth' version (try this one first i guess)

'plug-in as synth not checked' version (if that one don't work)

First version of Beta V2 is again working perfectly with Tracktion/Win 98.

2nd stage beta working well here in tracktion too, gui and free running issues solved,
[apart from; your label fields still overlap so the far left pixels in the 'gate' and 'channel in' labels have been chopped off (comments don't come any more minor than that do they Smile )]
8-step gate is v.nice, though how does it relate to the arp steps?
transpose channel working (nice touch)

this is turning into a very nice arp

awesome! Smile if you can write up a short description of how to install it in tracktion (tho i guess it's simple since no complaints from tracktion users) then you've scored yourself a gen-u-ine free copy of the final :p same goes for first person to private message me with install instructions for each host.

that's bizarre - the regions don't overlap on the gui. if it's jsut the text labels, i'll be pulling those off (they're an se function of the control) and writing them on the b/g. overall size is okay, the sliders et c. don't look funny?

transpose is all CK's built-in functionality..

the sequencer (adjustible length <=16 steps.. kinda cool @ eg. 7 steps) affects the gate-pulse generator that clocks the arpeggiator.. so it doesn't skip steps in the arp sequence itself.

thanks for the compliment and for sticking with betaing! Smile

still hoping to hear from verious cubase v.s and fruity users.. if anyone's put off by this being a commercial product, here's how it's going to work (if the prospect of being the first to hit me w/ install tips doesn't help :p)

$5 license is good for any/all forthcoming 'midigen' vst i produce.. ie. i'll slap my 'q' sequence generator into the same type of plug.

if you can't swing $5 (it happens) there will be alternatives means of reciprocation, discussed on a one-to-one basis.

just to prove that i am a fucking mentalist, one alternative payment will be 'the synthedit assignment -'

if you can't pay, we'll discuss your synthesis knowledge, and i'll assign a simple task to be conducted in synthedit (or something else musical/synthesis related) - all you'd have to do is d/l synthedit beta (free) and build what i tell you to. eg. if you're a synth beginner, i'll ask for a sawtooth oscillator going thru an envelope.. a read of the help file should spell that out for anyone in 10 minutes. something just to nudge towards autonomy.. money is only for the people who prefer it!

reasonable?

with regard to installing it under tracktion, i'm afraid it's a non issue, there are no problems, and because tracktion treats midi generating plugs just like any other filter it's a piece of piss, so no prizes for me Smile

on the text chopping front - the sliders etc are fine, it's just those two labels, so shove the text on the gui and robert's your father's brother

tried it (vsti version) under orion plat, and it's fine, except i can't stop it passing the notes pressed through aswell as the arp generated ones, even if i select a different channel as the output and set the receiving vsti to only receive that channel. could well be an orion issue, i'm a bit rusty on it since moving mainly to tracktion.

can't get (vsti version) to do anything in fruity

you got the hook-up for sure for your regular feedback Smile just got to farf about w/ the gui and it'll be out.

midi is behaving in synthedit, so suspect it is an orion issue.. free copy for anyone who can sort that out for synths that don't have midi receive channel.

why do i feel like i'm tossing pails of candy in iraq? :p
