Hi there everyone, Im new to this site so be gentle!!!
Can anyone tell me of a good cheap or free vst bass synth? Ive got tons of soft synths like Vanguard, V station,Absynth2, Albino2 and so on, but I cant seem to find the dream machine for bass (tried the demo of B station) and my banks now empty! Very Happy

Are you talking about synth bass or electric/acoustic styles?

Welcome to KVR, and careful what you wish for.

This thread could go on for weeks.

For electronic, good places to start would be reFX Claw or Muon Tau for electronic, maybe run through Ohm Force Frohmage filter.

For real bass-like, check out 4Front Bass Module.

All good places to start, all free, none definitive, but that doesn't come for free.

Cheers,
Steve

You are looking for electronic bass. Are Vanguard, V-station and Albino 2 not good enough? Shit!
Dunno, maybe Trilogy, but that has a lot of acoustic and electric basses as well.

Beast is my first call bass synth. Trilogy covers everything that Beast leaves out.

I'm partial to Triangle 2 for this, although FreeAlpha is another option.

Hi

It came and went as quickly as you can bat an eye; Bazzoid by Oxywavez, a 3 osc synth purely for bass.
Comes with 64 presets a nice gui not very CPU demanding and a breeze to program.

Check this out if you can find it; I purchased it but a while after could not get back in touch as their site seemed to have vanished!!!

Flipper.

Be sure to test out Bojos Impulse as well. I have found it to be my first choice for synth basses - it sounds extremly round and full and is anyway a fabelous synth ..and cheap.

My vote goes to Muon Software's Tau Pro. At $US 35 it's a good cheap synth, and it's pretty versatile too. The demo unfortunately is of the "white noise" variety but it gives you a good idea of what it can do.

another nod to Iblit. It's almost overpowering.

...also for huge variety consider - sfz - a free sample player that can play the thousands of free .sf2 (soundfonts) and .wav bass samples on the net... then poke your sounds through the many excellent free vst effects available. Shit! Smile Surprised

triangle 2 is good, but I have been using triangle 1 lately for bass synth duties. It is much quicker to use for simple bass synth stuff, where as t2 is good for leads and poly's. With the new skin that someone here posted (sorry can't remember who now... oops.) it has become much easier to use Laughing 'cause now I like to look at it. It is a nice synth and free.
