I know this topic has been posted previously but I missed out on it since I hadn't downloaded the demo yet.
My first impressions and I must admit I was a bit skeptical is this thing is the bomb. It does sound like my old minimoog to me. Some of the presets sounded a bit crisp to me but then that is all due to the programming. I was really looking for the warm bottom end to really impress me and it wasn't until I got to the Geoff Downes bass presets I found them. Which proved to me it is capable of the lowww bottom with a bit of programming put into it. The fun factor is rated 10 out of 10 for me, I had a ball, haven't had this much fun with a VSTi in a long time. Yes, Albino 2 is first on my list to buy and I would like to wait to compare the two moogs when Ohmforce releases theirs but Arturia did a great job, I am very impressed. There will be a minimoog VSTi sitting in my Tracktion very soon.

I tried the demo and without hesitation ordered it. I had the money saved, and I was debating what to buy, but as soon as I tried the demo, Bam! That was it! I always wanted one, and now I can afford it.

Mozart used to use violins, I think we shouldn't use them anymore. Just remember it was young people writing hip-hop who are responsible for resurrecting the desire for analog gear.

I stuck it on 96k and could really hear a difference from 44k, a lot of vsti's, i cant hear much difference. Try the first patch that it loads with in 44k and and 96k. 96k is brigher.

Same here! I had a Mini Moog D it was stolen back in 91. I really like the sound and it works well in Acid, Pro-Tools as TDM and RTAS and the stand alone. I think I've found one small bug with v1.0 On some patches if you change the Osc Range from lets say 16' to 32' and go back to 16' the sound of the patch is different than before the change. Over all fun 10 out of 10 George Ware

`though I`ve always been a fan of Arturia`s products - The Mini just doesn`t grab me.
When I compared it to Creamware`s Minimax, I found the latter more "Moog sounding" and punchier. Given the differences on the price tag between the Creamware and the Arturia, I`d rather wait for the GMedia Mini to come out. Somehow I get a feeling that the Minimoog V was something like a quickshot....

I try the demo, order, and receive it ! The sound, the modulation matrix, the polyphonie and the Unison possibility, (I have also discovered that the pulse width can be changed which was a lake of the original monimoog) all is great. It's worth the money I spend for it

I tried out the MiniMoog V last night and i have to admit that this possibly is the most analog sounding VSTi yet. I never ever played the original so i can't comment on the authenticity. But i know the original's filter was incredible. The colouration of sound you can get from this little gem is truly excelent. I see from the site that JM Jarre is backing it. I can see that the techno-trance dance crew will jump on it with abandon. The Arpeggiator is lovely to play as it shows the beautiful sound from the attack transients that the original was supposed to possess. However, I think the pads are a bit boring but normal analog architechture is never going to produce new sounds anyway. Well done Arturia for a lovely VSTi and it looks the bizz. (a lot of people moan about pretty GUIs taking CPU but to be honest i like the pretty GUIs, lets face it, some of the old analogs were beautiful to look at and inspired something in us). I placed the CS80V on top of the MinimoogV arpeggiator and they partnered beautifully. The CS80V sounds organic and Mini sounds electro.

Hi,
I posted a review on the minimoog V a few days ago and have been using the synth several hours a day since I received it. I confirm that minimoog V is certainly the best VST instrument I've ever used. Not only the sound, but also the look&feel. Hard to explain, but it's just inspiring. Maybe because the original machine was inspiring? Anyway, all that matters is what you are going to make with it. R2D2

Ouch! I don't expect the Model T would be that popular these days...hehe...but who in their right mind would not want the latest version of Ford's GT40?! FordGT

I'm in love with this thing! I especially love the sound, but the presets are really nice as well!

Hip-hop? Rap? What's that? If poets want to do poetry to 30-year old sounds and call it new (that's the point), let 'em get on with it, LOL. I just wish they wouldn't call it music

Arturia has done a fantastic job with their TAE's. I have to agree with you about the CS-80V. Saying I love the CS-80V is a tremendous understatement. I couldn't place the order fast enough. Thank you Arturia. Since this was a thread about the minimoog V, I'll just close with saying it's outstanding, too. It's definitely on my got-to-have-it list. |
