Hello kvr folks. I'm very new to this whole vst scene and need some advice. I downloaded a few synths and decided to use Synth 1, Triangle II, and Lightbag. So far, these cover most of my needs and sound pretty good to my ears. What I need is a good electric piano and some normal drums - I mean acoustic drums - and some funky JB style horns.

My music is sorta old style guitar blues so electronic drums don't seem right. The acoustic piano on my soundblaster card sounds ok but the elecrtric piano is really shitty.

I have Cubasis and it came with a drum module, but it's really naff sounding. Also it has a universal sound module which I don't use for the same reason.

Finally, I'm completely broke now coz no job. So free stuff is best for me.

Any ideas?

TQ

For a really good free epiano go here http://www.mda-vst.com/

Plugsounds Free has some of the stuff you're looking for http://www.usbsounds.com/jsp/index.jsp

For free real drums and horns you're better off using soundfonts. So pick up SFZ from here http://www.rgcaudio.com/

Then go to this thread and get all the soundfonts that will fit on your HD. That should keep you busy for a while. Smile

Pleased to meet you!
As for piano, look up MDA piano in the upper right instrument box and e-piano. Free and nice, they're some of my favorite plug-ins of all. 4front also has a piano module, though I've not used it.

Drums? Samples are probably your best bet. Other folks here can reccopmmend some sites. I buy Computer Music Magazine for drum samples when they offer them, along with samples from the Electronic Garden (Scott Solida frequents this place).

The CM ds-404 came with a complete horn sample set one month that I believe you can still download - though it's huge.

that's it for me. Look forward to hearing the music!

Hey thanks folks, you've given me a lot to go on. I noticed another thread that mentiond the mda piano so I'll try that first.

Big downloads might have to wait, my phone was cut off for a month so now I gotta be careful.

yuppiegulag your welcome to hear my music when I got something ready. T be honest, I wasn't sure if people here would like bluesey stuff - that's good though.

Nice one, this place is cool.
