What would you like to see in the next Vanguard update?
I'd say a modulation matrix like Albino's, a Chorus, and Autofilter, an envelope per oscilator, a more advanced arppegiator and I'd like to see the Trancegate working on short filter envelope settings now it's just playing the first note and the rest is silence with short a short decay and sustain. How about just combining Albino with Vanguard? Question: What exactly does the 'fat' option detune with only one oscilator going? Is it a fast running lfo which modulates the pitch or what is it?

I like your ideas..
but it will never happen (the combination) because albino is made by linplug and vanguard by refx.

Seems you have not quite understood the principle of a gate. Where there is no sound (read: filter closed), there is nothing to gate.
In Fat mode each osc plays 2 voices, detuned agains each other and spread in the stereo field.

How about... decent oscillators? *runs*

More wavforms to play with are always fun. Different shapes for the LFOs. More than one filter is good. An envelope for each osc that could be assignable (cutoff, res, pwm etc) plus overall osc for amp, filter.
Take Care | ||||

MIDI Learn function. Can't believe you guys left that one out.

We definitely need blue LEDs (although I quite like the GUI as it is already)
And no synth is a decent synth without a space at the side to place an ashtray. So howsabout it Mike... can we have an ashtray holder? And then add more envelopes, more LFOs, different oscillators, different coloured knobs, a mod matrix, an S&H circuit.....in fact, let's just call it something else rather than Vanguard shall we?

i would like to see the most usable knobs like Filter Cutoff, ModEnv, Res in the "closed" 19" unit gui like on the forthcoming luxonix ravity. take a look at: www.luxonix.com
and it would be cool if it`s possible to create more patterns in the Trancegat section! between 2-4 for variations of gated sounds

Your host doesn't have a builtin MIDI learning capability? Sheesh. Stoneage. This sort of thing really needs to be at the host level, not th eplugin level.

LMAO | ||||
| dr.wackler | Posted: 28th March 2004 16:22 | |||
How exactly should that work? The host should remember the controller assignment for each plugin? And when I switch to another host I have to do all the assignment again?

your wish will be granted because as Michael has stated on the refx forum, porting to au for all the refx stuff is what he is now concentrating on

I would like to add a coffee machine, alarm clock and GPS system.
| epsy | Posted: 29th March 2004 15:46 | |||
well if it's selling itself to be a virus emu, shouldn't it at least have a 2nd filter?
| JohnVulich | Posted: 29th March 2004 16:15 | |||
I'd settle for just a wider variety of shapes and tempo sync for the LFOs.
| VitaminD | Posted: 29th March 2004 16:15 | |||
show me the message, email, or other document where a refx employee specifically states that vanguard is a virus emu.
hmm silence.. question answered.
| JohnVulich | Posted: 29th March 2004 16:21 | |||
I don't think it's really marketed as a Virus emu by reFX. It's actually the next generation/replacement fo the Junox which was a Juno emu. The Virus comparison has been made by others regarding is sound and not necessarily feature set.

YES! Does Vanguard only do sine waves?
| helium | Posted: 30th March 2004 01:23 | |||
I don't like coffee, but I vote for the alarm clock and the GPS system.

Only triangle (ATM). Cheers, Mike
| spaceman | Posted: 30th March 2004 03:33 | |||
would you like an extra filter on the alarm clock? or use the extra filter in the peculator?
| Rabid | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:16 | |||
MIDI learn.
Virbrato from the Mod wheel.
| CypherOne | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:18 | |||
what he said | ||||
| Rabid | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:21 | |||
JOHN SAID JUNO ! Now you did it. Expect a call from Roland lawers. Don't you know that you are not allowed to speak that name without permission from Roland? Ben, can you edit this out? Ack. I also said Juno. I did not mean to. Drat. Drat. Drat. Now they are going to come after me.
| CypherOne | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:31 | |||
Is that really what happens when you say Juno? Oh shit
| normal | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:36 | |||
it only looks like juno in print ...
it's pronounced 'throatwarbler luxury yacht' ...
| kritikon | Posted: 30th March 2004 06:50 | |||
Shit.... all those Latin and Greek teachers are going to be in trouble. All that ancient mythology is pretty well completely copyrighted by Roland.
So demigod Vanguard lusted after Throatywarbler's sister and caused the Trojan wars! (can we say Troy?). It doesn't have the same import does it?
| lindseyp | Posted: 30th March 2004 07:36 | |||
I'd like to see more steps on the trancegate. 32 at least would be good. 64 better. right down to 1/64 note synch.
please? | ||||
| lindseyp | Posted: 30th March 2004 07:38 | |||
Oh. and Midi Learn.
All VSTs should have Midi learn.
| analoguesque | Posted: 30th March 2004 20:15 | |||
Eeesh, I shudder to say it but I'm a Sonar 3 noob, so there probably is a way of doing it but I just don't know how .... yet Ian
| analoguesque | Posted: 30th March 2004 20:19 | |||
That's it, we need a name change from Vanguared to July-o. I mean if it's gonna be a Juno upaswing, we might as well call it July-o, right? Ian
