Hey everyone, just a quick question. If you could
have 10 versions of your fav plugins in hardware format which one's would you choose. I'm not trying to start any kind of v/a or actual analog vs software war so it's all in good fun.P.S. If this topic has been done multiple times i am truly sorry.

My picks

1.Eve-Vintage keys got nothing on this gem.

2.Fm7- Would have to have a better interface than
the DX7, then again my sisters casio keyboard has a better interface.

3.impOSCar- Gmedia you are Gods among men.

4. Mercury 1- Love it depite the fact that it's getting on in years and it's only mono.

5. Vanguard- Trance master.

6. MHC Spacesynth

7. Fabfilter one- have an ms-10 and it's very similar.

8. Quadrasid- Eat your heart out sidstation.

9. Albino 2

10. Of course.... Tera 2.

Actually I don't want any of my plugins in hardware. That'd be like a big step back in the evolution. If anything I'm looking forward to more hardware synths being made available as native or poco based vstis.

Technically you already do! Your computer is "hardware". If you mean portable then buy a rack case for you machine then add an audio/midi interface and hit the road.

ALL (mostly) the Hardware synths you can buy are actually sotwares!!
it's all about the programming~ Laughing

And A/D converters play a big role. The better the soundcard/hardware outputs are, the better your synths will sound.

yeah
and how punchy and how jucy or softness will also affected by the output and input of the synth~ Razz

What part do A/D converters play in the sound of soft synths?

Why the people are thinking that Vanguard is only able to make sounds for Trance??? Trance can do a lot of more different sounds than only some for Trance music, grrrr...

Hey, i was not suggesting vanguard was only good for trance, i was merely pointing out that it excels at
that particular genre, no one can deny that it's
factory presets are primarily trance orientated. I have tweaked vanguard to get great basses, ambient pads, and other cool textures. I love Vanguard, and I happen to love trance, so yea. Vanguard is a great synth for any genre so pick it up, whether you like trance or not, you'll love it

10? I would only choose Absynth, because of it special soundcharacter. Is for me the best VSTI and the only one there is until today no hardware with this special soundcharacter!

The only reason why I'm not using my jd800 any more is that it's so much more convinient with softsynths where you just open up your project file and everything is still there and so on. Why would I want any of my software synths boxed in something outside of my computer? That would be a giant leap back imo.

all this hardware isnt as convenient as software stuff

http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=1440

yamaha and steinberg are designing a protocol where your software can speak to all your hardware - and will remmeber all its settings inside your song

and this protocol will be open to all

hardware is coming back - itll will just integrate better with your daw - and will be the ultimate copy protection

That last comment is very interesting. Obviously, Yamaha have the most to lose as they are the biggest Musical Instrumet Manufacturer in the world. But PCs are getting more powerful and very soon they will be beyond the reproach of anything in musical hardware. Yamaha and Steinberg's activity is only an anti-piracy measure. It has nothing to do with improving the ease of Song generaton. They are nieve if they think that piracy will still prevail. Who does not know anybody with a chipped Playstation eh?

Rhino – Because the best patches take so much power it would be nice to have it on dedicated highly efficient DSP chips.

Z3ta+ - Leave the computer at home. Give me a keyboard with 100+ knobs and sliders for this beast.

GigaStudio – It is hard to believe that someone has not produced a hardware sampler with streaming.

Things that I am glad to have in hardware.

FS1r – FM7 in a box. Good thing it came with a program for editing.

Nord Modular – Why has no one developed a software modular as easy and fun as the Nord Modular interface?

Emu XL-7 – It’s just handy to have around. I would love to have this in software.
