Hi!

I'm working with cubase sx 2.01, and I'am fascinated of VST Plugins!! My favourite style of music is trance,.. kommerzial trance,.. and so on. Now my Question.

What are the best VST's for doing this style??
Basslines?
Synths?
Drums?

Now iam using vanguard,..z3ta+,..superwave,..
But can you help me and say somme other perfect vst plugins?? Thank you very much

try using gmedia's mtron in your trance music and you'll be unique.... (well I don't know if you'll actually be the only one for I don't listen to trance at all.. but I guess you'll be one of a few)

Albino2 seems very nice for trance and comes with more than 1000 presets from Rob Papen! Cool

FM7 - classic, with a bit of patience can create really good presets for ttrance

Concerning sx2 - tried it, but loads

Decay,

you are gonna get a good few sarcastic comments here because you are asking a very broad question whcih is highly subjective!

In other words - there is no good/bad synths, just different. Your best bet is to download some free synths and have a bash at learning to program your own patches for them. Once you get a bit better, maybe splash out on a decent synth to get some better sounds.

The same goes for drum machines - it depends what you want to do and how much effort you want to put in. You can get some great drum loop sample CD's, and they can be good, but not as versatile as using individual hits or drum synthesis.

Go to the instruments/effects, hosts section and select some option so it filters out some stuff. Try subtractive synths, analogue stuff, drum samplers, drum synths, FM synths etc and see what looks good and try some demos.

There is so much choice on the market, and these buggers round here(much as i love them Very Happy ) will mostly just be sarcastic about a question as broad as the one you asked!

Anyway - good luck finding what you're after mate Smile

V-station is great for thick basslines!!!
Imposcar and pentagon are very nice for trance music as well.
Albino is nice but for me it sounds to soft, not aggresive enough.
Absynth can do alot a things, from big atmospheric pads to big leads.
Atmosphere is very populair among trance producers for pads.
For drum you should try Reason or stylus, or if you just want drums machines go for either Waldorf attak,, linplug Rm4 or that dr-008.

Hi Decay!

I'm in the same music genre. I use Logic Audio 5.5.1 and there is the ES2 instrument wich is a killer. But the ES2 is only for Logic.

The vsti's i got are.

Vanguard, Albino 2, Atmosphere, Discovery, ES1, ES2, EXS24 sampler, V-station, B-station and soon to be added to my collection the Virus Powercore. My setup is a P4 3,0 Ghz 800 FSB and 1 Gb memory, M-Audio 24/96 audiocard and one Powercore PCI card. One Yamaha O1v digital mixer and microphone. This setup is more than enought to make good sounding songs if the skills are there Cool .

But i would buy the Albino 2. It has a given space in my setup Smile .

For me it has to be the z3ta its so powerfull you can create the most awesome sounds for trance and make Hard Trance and I use is for most of the Main Riff's in my tunes, Basslines I use Novation Bass Station, Drums I use Reason, claps i use the waldorf attack cause you can create the massive DJ Scot Project style claps on it yeh baby.

Then for the rest I use Kontakt, Intakt, Pro 53 and 52, FM7, the junglist is also good for acid lines, the Vaz 2010 also gets a look in at times, and also these:

Oddity,
Albino,
Absynth,
SuperWaveP8 one of my fav's at the moment and its free!!!
Edirol orchestral for strings,
and many more.

Basically what i'm trying to say is that there isn't a best you need alot of sound resources to make good quality trance. Also good sound source help you to make different trance and not just the same kind of tracks everytime.

Hope this helps Smile Smile Smile

I don't have any such problems, maybe you forgot to activate 'old plug-in behaviour' for VSTi's that aren't VST 2.0 compliant yet?
