AuthorTopic: Atmosphere - update suggestion

Eric

Would love to see the facility to save (and name) user patches within a separate user bank in Atmosphere rather than save custom patches within a project (i.e. Cubase SL/SX etc).

Is this or something like it ever likely to happen? I think it certainly open up a new wave of interest (and creativity) in this already great VSTi.

Never is a very long time. Especially considering Glenn O is doing the new Spectrasonic Engines. Who knows, maybe he'll figure out how to sync a LFO. Smile

but it's been promised since Atmos was released, but I expect they'll put in some extra sample content or something to justify the cost. God I'm cynical this morning Very Happy

Laughing Yeah they better add one or two extra sounds if they want people to pay for the update.

Regarding THAT LFO issue...
spectrum wrote:

The LFO sync issue was one we were promised by the UVI programmers would be added quickly after the original release of the instruments. This is the reason we promised this update in the manuals. After the products were released, we were informed that the original UVI engine that we licensed for Atmosphere could not be updated for LFO sync for technical reasons. A major engine change is necessary to accomplish this simple feature.

So the bottom line is that LFO sync is still absolutely going to happen for Atmosphere and Trilogy, but because of the technical issues that are not under our control with the UVI engine, it will have to be part of a larger and more significant upgrade to those instruments. Therefore, it's going to take much more time than we originally planned. So I not able to commit to a date yet....only that it will definitely happen and we are commited to delivering what we promised regarding this feature.

The important thing to keep in mind though is that LFO sync is just the tiny tip of the iceberg of what we have in store for Atmosphere and we are now laying the groundwork with our own technology to do many incredible things for the future.

it's gonna be great Very Happy

We can't comment on specific future plans, except to say that it will be very cool. That said, anyone familiar with Crystal knows I understand how important it is to include a slick patch browser in a virtual instrument, and I know how to make it easy to exchange patches. In any case, ideas for enhancements are always welcome.

The one thing that makes me reluctant to buy this is the load time between patches. What i've heard of Atmosphere and Trilogy sounds great.
I understand most of the patches are big files and can take a few seconds to load? It would be nice to have hard disk streaming to enable you to audition a patch before loading.

The load time is nominal. Maybe 5 seconds, tops. Good things are worth the wait. Considering I've had to wait several minutes for some patches to load on my old hardware, or Giga, the few seconds isn't a big deal. I'd rather have the quality any day.

Yeah my loading times are not bad at all with Trilogy. I guess it varies depending on your ram and stuff. But I dont really mind it at all. Trilogy is freggin awsome, its everything I need for bass, nothing out there is better or even close. I love that thing, I cant wait to see what Glenn O and company have in store for it.
