For all you 20th century music lovers here are two demos I have done recently with the new DS Soundware Woodwinds:
Milhaud "Violent" from his Petite Symphony for 10 wind instruments http://www.dssoundware.com/demos/MilhaudViolent.mp3 and Stravinsky "Allegretto" from his 8 Instrumental Miniatures http://www.dssoundware.com/demos/Oboe2.mp3 Hope you enjoy! Well Donnie, first a technical suggestion. Although recorded at 160kbps the volume is quite low which made it difficult on some instruments such as fulte to hear what sounded like articulations.
Overall the sound was authentic and sound like they would really be taken advantage by someone familiar with playing wind parts into sequences, or better yet, someone playing a wind controller. Overall, the ensemble areas did not collapse as often happens with pieces like this. Sound information ws a bit difficult but in general gave the iimpression there was much to work with in terms of one's own performance. Bruce

Bruce,
Very astute observations! However the mp3 is encoded at 320 kbps to the best of my knowledge (I'll check to be sure). The overall level may be a bit low as you pointed out but I hate to normalize anything. Although this could probably be boosted 6bd without any damage caused to my brain Perhaps the most impressive things about these demos is the time it took to make them. Both the Milhaud and the Stravinsky took less than 20 min's from start to finish. The instruments play very freely and musical without an overuse of cc messages which makes making demos or mock ups a breeze. If anyone is interested in the midi files (or Logic files) I could post them. Thanks again, Donnie

I'd like both files as well.
Keep in it was very early morning when I played the demos. If you want, I'll do a general mastering job that won't do anything bad to the sound and will sound as good as a cd. Conact me at x_bruce@yahoo.com Hi Fitch!

Cripes! Where did you get a Stravinsky midi from?
I'd love the midis. I'll post impressions when I have them downloaded. The network is running like a dog here today.
