What VST instrument can recreate that synth sound on the Beatles "Maxwell's Silver Hammer?" I'm looking to mock those old late 70's/80's educational videos for a project and that sound the Beatles got is pretty close to what I'm going for.

I thought they used a Moog on Maxwell's Silver Hammer, so one of the Moog emulations would probably be a starting point in your search.

Wouldn't that be funny if the Beatles used a 303? And a 909? That would be so 666!

According to engineer Alan Parsons, as quoted in Andy Babiuk's Beatles Gear, it was George Harrison's Moog Modular IIIp. Paul McCartney used the ribbon controller.

With that in mind I would suggest Arturia's Moog Modular V.

I knew that book would come in handy someday.

Wow, pretty expensive. Before I break into the wallet for it, are there any less expensive solutions?

You may also want to check into Georges' Electronic sounds album. Its one of the first albums made with a synth being the focus.

Geoge gets major props for contributing a really tasteful synth line to a song he and Lennon were embarassed to be recording.

Am I alone in thinking that you can come pretty dang close to this sound with the Triangle2?

Yeah it would be funny, especially considering that they would have had to travel through time to do it

And then there's the one on The White Album.
