soultrane from the mighty mga signing in with my l.a. story of the week. (logging in from the sweet downtown standard in l.a.... suckas!!!)

bottom line 4 me on the recent kontakt intakt fak... i went to west la music on santa monica blvd. today, held "afrolatin slam" and the plp 120 in my hand, and, even though the sales cat called east-west right there and asked them if they had any problems with the intakt and logic 5.5 pc (my platform), i went ahead and bought the plp.

moral of the story? well, someone else's fine girlfriend ain't, if ya think about it, helpin' you all that much. as sweet as those sample editing capabilities look, what good is a product that doesn't "work" as advertised in a lot of different real world situations?

what other business could u get away with that? musicians can't get away with it... (I don't really know how to program that type of beat yet, but check back w. me in a couple of weeks...)

if u can't do it, don't box it and try to sell it. and, as some wise cat here has said, if u can't demo it, forget about it.

You people. It's like a kiddies playground around here sometimes. Baggging on some guy because of the way he talks (types). Jesus.

Then, Soultrane, you should have known... you must first supply serial numbers to Devon buy PM BEFORE presenting issues to the general KVR community. Devon is the unofficial KVR junior deputy in charge of copyright infringement. He is also psychic. Beware.

OH FFS. Soultrane's post was in light spirits and we continued accordingly. Seems like a nice chap to me and I love his music - I see it as laughing with him as opposed to at him - this Jive stuff is fun!

SOULTRANE REMIX
EDIT EDIT

since some couldn't hear my previous post, i'll do redo it in all anglo stylee;

Greetings, chaps, from the beautiful Downtown Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The weather today is 78 degrees and sunny. The Standard not only offers DSL in every room, but has a "tops optional" policy at the swimming pool. I am very much enjoying my surroundings, and wish you could all be here to enjoy it with me.

I had a very interesting VST-i software related purchasing experience that I'd like to share with you good people. I recently went to a store, and asked the young, energetic salesman to show me something in the line of a percussion plug-in, ever-endeavorous as I am of composing "phat grooves" as they say.

The salesman politely produced two products, one of them bundled with the Native Instruments -AKT player. Since my well chronicled bad experiences with the newest crop of NI sample based instruments, (please cf. elsewhere in this forum...) I chose to buy the other product.

Perhaps there is a message in all of this; CAVEAT EMPTOR. And, as Benjamin Franklin has told it to us in Poor Richard's Almanac, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

In other words, dear friends, I just wished to pass on a little common sensical real world experience; I did not receive, in my opinion, the full value for the money I spent on the last two NI based products I bought.

But, of course, feel free to buy them and use them if they work for you. Sorry for dissing your favorite 0's and 1's.

I'm OUT

hmm, however that doesn't say anything about the new EASTWEST product he hasn't bought. Again just a message to pre judge a new product. I do not understand that he had posted this message at all if he had bought a differen product? And he had not even mentioned how good or bad this product is he had bought...strange postings here...LOL Laughing

Much obliged old chum...

Indeed, NI are egregious in the utmost with respect to their flagrant disregard for John or Jane Punter. It is with trepidacious perspicacity that I can at last announce without any trace of incredulity, the solidity and propriety of the binary digit product known as 'Kontakt', after what seems an aeon of consternation. Insult has been poured upon injury in the last year of ownership of said item, but the road to salvation seems at last clear. I can say this with belief having not suffered any major problems with the 'Reaktor' entity since the arrival of numero 4.1.

Nevertheless, the possibilities presented by these electronic commodities once refined are truly remarkable. That said, one can only regret the tragic unavailability of trial models. The absence of a demo version of Intakt or Kontakt 1.5 is truly lamentable, and fate may come down with furious vengeance on their regretful derrieres, should they not make immediate and unconditional reparations!

Represent one time in the hood, for shizzle!

soultrane,

now I got it. I wasn't kidding. I *really* couldn't understand much from the your first. No joke.

But I gather since you didn't buy -AKT and the other product mentioned was PLP120, that you bought PLP120? Good choice. It's coded by me Very Happy

You always have to take with forum posts. Not all people are native speakers. I am, for example, german and I don't watch any Gangsta-rapper style videos etc. I only got about 10% of your first post!

Mike
