if i were you, i would look for some sample cd's which i came across and had reasonable results by the help of carefull and painfull midi editing or buy a 12 string and learn how to play it or call someone who can play -and obviously- have a 12 string. being a guitar player i was really dissappointed with the recent -modelled- guitar plugins.

another thing is, say if you are playing a french horn or a trumpet, you will not be satisfied with a vsti version of your instrument. and your demand , my friend is almost impossible as any other acoustic instrument that i can dream of.

best regards.....

It depends what you're trying to do, but... ok, no it doesn't depend on that at all. Just go buy RealGuitar. It's a lot of cash, but it's brilliant.

I'll make another suggestion for Real Guitar. It really is brilliant sounding, and you won't be dissappointed. It's taken place in my studio in so much already, and it's only been out a matter of a little while. Get it!

We've just completed a product called "Acoustic Guitar Capsule" which comes with SampleTank 2 LE and works as a plug-in and/or library for popular software samplers. It has some of the best acoustic 6 and 12 string guitars and the price is affordable. The quality is higher than one might expect for this price. It will be released in about two weeks and we'll put audio demos on line so you can hear it on www.esoundz.com

Good luck!

well guys, now some theority:
when you want to play some accords with guitars, you must set the accord-notes seperatly. so, i set the 6 for the guitar-strings. and, it sounds well if you want do make a normal guitar, now i wanted to make the same with the 12 stringed, so i cought a normal acoustic guitar from sampletank and set the 6 accrod notes and then doubled them a octave higher, the 2 highest i set back to their normal position. or how you would call it, i set the 12 stringes seperatly like in a 12 stringed guitar. but it sounds like shit, but ive done all things right! damn! can you help me?

As great as people say Real Guitar is, it has some fatal flaws. HOs, POs, and bends are noticably fake. I find that pretty much all of the samples are somewhat fake. I would recommened Steinberg's Virtual Guitarist and double the acoustic guitars (if you're using the guitars as rythmic guitars). PS 02: Stringed Instruments is a great buy. I would recommened getting that to everyone who uses guitars and acoustic instruments in there compositions.

12 stringed guitars are not just doubled 6 strings. The standard 12 string tuning is the E A D and G strings all have an octave string. That means that you have an A as the first string in the pair and then an A note one octave higher. Then the B and E strings don't have octave strings, but unison strings, which means that you have two B strings at the same octave.

Doubling the output of a 6 string is not a very authentic method of getting a 12 string sound, nor is pitch shifting.

As I've been playing guitar for a 3rd of my life I know what a guitar sounds like, and no modeling synth I have ever seen can capture the sound of a real guitar.

The sound of a guitar is made up from it's oddly non-musical characteristics that make it so unique and difficult to model. Show me a synth that realistically simulates the detrimental effects of placing a mic or pickup over a harmonic node and I'll show you a grown man with a foot in his mouth.

Now i tried the 12 stringed from sampletanks guitarcolection. man that sounds bad. dont take it personal but it sounds like everything but a 12 stringed. i give it up. i tried everything but nothing sounds like PHOENIX (you know this old band with "Everything is Everything"). i think if you want to make a guitar you must play it for real Confused ...
