Rolling Eyes

Joking...

What are you trying to do? A .dll is a vsti or vst file so you don't need to convert it. Just drag the .dll into your VST plugin folder, refresh your plugins in your host, and the new plugins should pop up..

yeah, what he said.... Very Happy

VST is just initials for Virtual Studio Technology; it is not an actual file type. The .dll filetype is (generally speaking) an application extention - in virtual instrument terms, a "plugin". That is why you need a host for VSTi and VST, because they are "extentions" rather than standalone applications. When you install a host program, there will almost without exception be a folder inside the programs installation directory that is called "VST", or "Plugins". You want to copy the .dll (your VST plugin) and paste it into that folder. Then you will be able to load it up in your host program.
You are on Mac, right?? So, if another Mac user sees anything that I have mixxed up here, could you post it? I am almost positive that it would be exactly the same, but hey, you never know.

Cheerz, dood. Keep askin' questions, we like to help! 'Specially me, it gives me something to keep me from doing stuff I should be doing. Laughing

.dll files are dynamic link libraries for use on Windows computers only - VST plugins are normally supplied in this file type. A .vst file is likely to be a VST plugin supplied as a Mach-O bundle for use on Macintosh OSX computers only. This isn't the only way VST plugins are shipped for OSX, but the most modern.

Sounds to me like you are trying to install the windows version of a VST plugin under OSX. The answer to your question is no, there's no way. Ask the developer for the OSX version and install it to your library/audio/plugins/vst folder.

Muon got it. I found a JunoX2.dll file which I need to use on a mac. Is their a host, ON MAC (Classic or OS X0, that interprets (Spelling?) .dll vsti's. And yes I know that this is a newbie question. Sorry to annoy (Spelling?) you all.

No. Windows .dlls cannot run on a mac.

Well duh, the developers frequent the forum on here. You are STILL after getting help on here for pirated software? Dude, give up. If you haven't gotten the clue yet, don't count on getting help.

Masta'Beat, if you want working plugins for your host of choice, you actually have to purchase them from the vendors. They then give you support.

He's talking about the demo, downloaded from KvR - He backed it up to cd at some point, obviously. But he states clearly in an earlier thread that the demo version that he has came from here. It's the same thing that has happen'd to me before, I backup my important folders, including downloads folders, and often times I get backups of demo versions. I just don't want to spend the fucking time weeding through the hundreds of files sometimes, you know? I do sometimes, but sometimes I don't have the patience or time.

Anyway, Masta, you need to let it go, it is NOT going to work on your mac, there is NO program anywhere that will convert it. I am sorry, I know that when you're new there are things that you think "well, that should be possible... why couldn't that be done??" but trust us on this, you NEED to forget about the JunoX2, and just bite the bullet and DL the Vanguard demo for mac. There are (there must be, ???) some free VSTis for mac too, so the best thing you could do is get the Vanguard mac demo, grab a free plug or two FOR MAC!!! and get familiar with the whole system. You just aren't gonna find a way to try the Juno on your mac, and even if you tried it on your buddy's Windoze box, you could still never buy it if you like it, 'cause they don't make it anymore. LET it GO, son. It's just gonna EAT you UP!! Laughing Laughing
Seriously, though. Sorry to sound like I am lecturing, but you are just going to find frustration at the end of the path you are trying to take. Smile Smile Smile

IIRC, he's mainly looking for a good hoover sound. So maybe he should ask if anyone knows of any good Mac synths that have a decent hoover sound...

pough, you almost read my mind. So does anyone have a decent sounding hoover vsti they know of. And the .dll probably (Spelling?) has a virus or something like that in it. So I just need a hoover vsti. Any help would be great. Sorry for annoying you all.

The only thing that's been 'annoying' is your clarity. It's really sounded like you're trying to use pirated software, which you see does NOT fly around here. IF English isn't your native tongue, and it's a translation problem, say so, and people are more understanding. What most aren't understanding of is pirates trying to use software they didn't legally buy.

Why don't you try this one: http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/download.html

be sure to d/l the mac version. I don't know if it's got hoover sounds but I'm quite sure you'll be able to create them with this free gem.
