AuthorTopic: Best VST for making modern dance style music.

Hi all,

I'm a newb to this forum and I find it very helpful. I have a lot of VST's that are vintage synth remakes. Now I'm looking to buy VST(s) that would work and sound great with modern dance styles like, Techno, Trance, Goa Trance, Rave, Electronica.
I really like it when a VST sound bank has its style name in the bank description. It makes it much easier to search for sounds.

Thanx

Welcome ESS - you'll probably get a bit of light flaming for this one as it's a topic that's been discussed before and the question is too generalised to give a precise answer.

I'd check out the demo's of Vanguard, z3ta+, Superwave synths, Albino 2, V-Station and others I'm sure people here may suggest.

As in 'medium rare' sir?

'I suggest you try the demos, and see what suits you best'

instead of,

'fuck off you fucking newbie twat, try out the fucking demos and decide for your fucking self'...or the like.

Once you get past giving a shit about everyone else's thoughts on what you like, then you're good! Wink

I agree on the list completely. I'd add Tera 2, Sytrus, and Reaktor though as well.

I was merely giving an example of 'well done' flaming as opposed to 'lightly flamed'

Do you have any NI plugs currently? You might want to take advantage of the NI Komplete2 offer.

That said, I keep returning to Virsyn Tera2.

Thanx for the list munchkin. I downloaded and installed the demos and ended up buying z3ta+, Vanguard, Superwave-Trance and Superwave Pro.
I started on my first song using only z3ta+. The song is turning out great.

jesus, thats a fair purchase in one day!

... next place you might want to head off to is Pro Sounds. They've got heaps of patches/banks for the synths you baught, some of them free, some of them on sale- Great sounds to add to your collection.

having said that, if i could have afforded z3ta+, Vanguard and the superwave bundle, I would have grabbed myself a nice peice of hardware- not necessarily a synth, but something in a shiny box Smile

wow.. talk about impulse buys.. you got the list of suggestions on the same day you posted the quote above me.. which means you had to have downloaded and tried the demos out to all of those synths mentioned that you bought. they must have really struck a positive chord with you... Surprised Shit! Surprised

Them all really, your question is too general.

Van Dyke type Trance arpeggios are excelent on Albino and Vanguard.+ V-Station is pretty good.

Good Warm Controllable Basses come from:
Oddity, Minimoog V, Novation Bass Station, MS-20 and many others.

Pads: FM7, B4+Effects, V-Station, WaveStation, ImpOscar, Reaktor, Absynth, any sampler.

Leads: Absynth, Reaktor, CS-80v, MS-20 (this really will vary according to the style)

Effects: Them all.

Reverb: Only One Here ! AMBIENCE, this is the only Reverb available i have found that gives that detailed clear big sound allowing the mix to spread across the none universe.

Most of the Synths listed would quite easily fill any category. They are that good.
