what's the point, if you've already got basstation?
however,
iblit is a monster bass on its own. throw baxxpander on it, and it becomes a crippler.

Check out the demo.

Personally, I think Z3ta+ makes fat bass sounds...

ive alwyas used Alibino (2 and 1) for bass.....the synth themselves are not that exciting but seem to have a brilliant quality for bass.....also of late this has changed into RAVITY.,..what an awesome synth!! totally not as widely used as it should be!!

one thing tho with bass its all down to your EQ and how it works with your kick!!

bass and kick must be as one!!

Bazzoid> Ya it's cool. Unfortunately I am not allowed to buy any other vst's or vsti's this year, even for that dirt cheap price... but indeed, after using the demo, I was tempted. But you have to stop at one point...

It is on my list though! Maybe in 2005.

hmm...well Emagic ES1...the bass synth for prog house.
I use it all the time now. The "lowbass" patch is fantastic!

here are some basses in sytrus. Those are enhanced DX7 presets, because FM is good at basses.

cheers, Valley - have forgotten to reply to your reply
about me praising Bazzoid in the Zebra thread Embarassed

I'm glad if I could help you filling out that gap which I had as well before I bought Bazzoid Very Happy
and I'm glad if Maxx gets more sales because he really deserves it for his awesome and inexpensive synth Very Happy

Noooooooo... ddddoooonnnn''''ttttt tttteeeemmmpppppttttt meeeeeeeeeee

I spent about $1300.00 this year on music stuff. That's insane... we're not even half way through the year.

I am going to relax, and just use the tools I already have until 2005 ( this excludes free plugins, of course Very Happy ).

I'll have a budget in 2005 ( bonus money from work ).

PS: It's weird. I have reached a stage in my life when I have to save for everything. A downpayment on a house, a baby that should be conceived in the 2 years to come ( my very first Very Happy ), an expensive ring.. But, I do have my bonus money from work! And that is just for me! It's my treat to myself.. at least until the baby arrives.

Damn! How come I haven't heard of Bazzoid until now!?! Shocked I'm here everyday, but this is the first I've heard of it. A must purchase

It's a cool little synth, definately worth it's small asking price. It debuted here about 2 months ago. I don't cosider it an end all be all, but it's nice for fleshing out tracks.

Of course not, but the perfect bass sound is one of my obsessions. So anytime I find something that adds to my palate them I'm pretty happy.

for what Bazzoid does, I like Tau2 better, same price, like a dollar difference or something. Just sounds better to me. Then there's tau pro, which I like even better Smile

I don't know, Tau2 has always seemed more geared towards 303 type sounds. Bazzoid is a bit more diverse IMO.

Normally Albino for me, but I just got v-station and hit has a real depth to it's bass tones so I'm using that instead of Albino lately.

Confused you compare a single osc synth without even a real envelope at least for the gain with a polyphonic three osc. synth which has a five stage envelope for the osc gain and a four stage envelope for the filter? Shit!

Just to visualize you comparison Razz :

I really prefer Attack for Basses.
Of my synths, none can do that much rumble in the lower frequencies belo 100 hz that you dont hear but FEEL... Very Happy
I tested out some but most - even Iblit or z3ta + - just dont rumble enough and Attack can really sound amazingly fat.

Antti's Asynth can do some great basses.

V-station is good too.

another vote for Iblit. The bass from this synth is noticeably better, imho. Smile

What? Nobody has mentioned impOSCar yet! With its "Kick-ass filter" and warm as hell oscillators that bad mother is my one destination for all things bass. Check out the demo, and try the patch "Hip-hop Bass" to see what I mean. That Basstard has more bounce per ounce than any other VA synth soft, or hard that I know of.

How do you use attack as bass

doesn`t you make didfferent sounds on every note??

Each sound in the upper-12 of the sound selector can be played chromatically from C3 and up. The sound being played will correspond to the MIDI channel being received. For example, with the 808 preset if you want to play the Reso Bass sound set Attack to receive on channel 11 and then play the upper half of your keyboard.

It's kind of a non-intuitive way but it works. Attack is capable of some good sounds. And if you're a capable enough player you can play drum parts with your left hand and bass (or lead) lines with your right hand. Wink I'll stick to sequencing for now.

One of these days I'm going to get around to doing an entire song with only Attack just for the fun of it.

Perhaps the question was bedsit synth for bass, in which case I would have to say any synth which has a kitchen sync option Laughing

The thing with bass sounds is that many digital synths use wavetables for synthesis and these can sound grainy when you stretch them low (artificial harmonics / "clock noise").

Fxpansion has an upcoming monosynth that has the best low end of any digital synth I've heard. I'd name this yet-released synth "Purity" if I had a say in it Wink

Korg Legacy (MS20 and Polysix) can make some nice bass sounds too.

Iblit & Bazzoid, sometimes mixed with LinPlug Alpha.

Posted: 7th June 2004 06:08
there's one Alpha patch called "Bass (yeah)".

If I'm stuck for a bass patch to fit, this is the first one I reach for. Just reduce the envelope->cutoff in the mod matrix a wee bit and it's a really useful bass patch.

A patch for all season, if you will.

A uni-patch.

etc.

one really nice feature of the Bazzoid is that the waveshaping features allow you to come somewhere near having a seperate filter for each oscillator.

Even without touching the cutoff control you can shape the frequency range of each oscillator, which frees up the cutoff/res to act more like an emphasis control.

I'm amazed how versatile this little vsti is.

Somehow, I always end up using sampled bass. I think that, once sampled, the sound becomes 'harder'/more focused than on a VA. Hard to explain, try it yourself. Cool

Peter.
