http://www.tomshardware.com/video/20040611/index.html

Product US (excl. tax) Europe
1212m $200 200 €
1820 $400 400 €
1820m $500 500 €
EmulatorX (with 1212m) $300 300 €
EmulatorX Studio (with 1820m) $600 600 €
Emulator X update for all E-MU cards $149 149 €

Damn. My first VSTi was Halion. Then Kontakt was released and I regretted buying Halion. Then I bought NI Komplete2. Now this deal is tempting me all over again.

So, please tell me Emulator X sucks (there's no review yet)!

It doesn't suck. There's better things to spend your money on than changing samplers again, however.

I'm not planning to Wink
But this package seems to be a good deal if you're in the market for a soundcard. Maybe when I finally get a lappie some day...

Next VSTi on my list is Garritan Personal Orchestra Smile

Na, the card won't fit in a laptop.

This month's Keyboard magazine has a pretty good review. I don't know if the Keyboard mag holds any sway here but I like it. They gave it a Key Buy Award which means they liked it too.

as a quick off the cuff review the emulator x is the best vst ever - its better than sex and not as messy

nah

its a sampler

cpu seems slightly higher than kontakt - the inability to read akais from a cd rom is very annoying - apparently you can do it in dos but its not exactly user friendly - ive never tried converting anything else so ive just used the basic banks and wavs

but this is the rub - it sounds mighty fine - its fairly easy to understand the layout - the modulation system is vast but the one everyone bashes on about - me included - is the filters

easily the best you will hear on ANY (yes ANY for all you imposcar users) current vst - not to mention the 50(!) different types

but overall its another sampler - none of them are perfect and they all have their benfits - this has great modulation options and filters - if your in the market for a soundcard id get it (i did) but if not I wouldnt worry if you already own halion and kontakt !

but youve only got one of them so

Cool soundcard, mind.

If they did a portable version, I'd buy it.
