My mole at SC informs me that they have just done a deal to blow out a bunch of copies of Steinberg D'cota VSTi. Price will be 59 quid, so if you cant stretch to Tera 2 its worth a look.

It's there now - what sort of copy protection does it use - if it's not a dongle or PACE I'll get it.

59 GBP = $107 USD more or less. Plus you have to add shipping.

You might be better off just getting it directly from Steinberg. $99.

BTW, D'Cota rocks! Especially for $99/59GBP

You can do some really nice layers with it using the multi mode.

One more question. Since there seems to be no demo, is there anywhere I can here more examples than the two on the Steinberg site?

Stinkberg... grrr

I've been playing around with the fix-two-things-break-one feature in Cubase courtesy of an update... bleh

Anyway... isn't there a Tera demo? You should be able to download that and at least get a taste of what D'Cota might sound like. Seeing as how D'Cota is kind of the 'lite' little brother version.

Does anyone know if the version of d'corta on the Instrument bundle (which is being offered round $100) is is too stripped down to be of any real use and I should go for the full version?

Actually I have the same question about Halion?

If you're talking about the instruments that were bundled in the Studio Case - Halion SE, D'Cota SE, etc, then D'Cota SE only does virtual analog, and Halion SE only does Halion & soundfont formats.

I'd buy the "real" D'Cota and Halion, or alternatives.
