AuthorTopic: Cheap or free Akai S5/6000 .akp file to Kontakt conversion?

Hi, I found some great vintage samples on the Hollow Sun site but they are in Akai S5/6000 .akp format. I now have Kontakt and although the manual says it supports Akai format apperently not that particular format (advice from the Kontakt users forum). I'm aware of one translator but it is $149 and right now I'm a bit strapped for cash. Anyone know of a free or cheap (ie under $50) translator to do this particular job? Thanks

Don't know if this helps, but I think you can use the wave files in the sampler anyway, but you have to map them yourself ofcourse. I seem to remember I have tried this successfully (in NNXT in Reason).

If Kontakt reads EXS24 programs, you may be in luck. The whole Hollow Sun catalog has been translated into that format and those programs are available for download. There should be a link on the Hollow Sun site.
