AuthorTopic: Are you waiting for Access Virus Vsti ?

I'm sure Access is working in this sense, first for TDM then Powercore and why not in native ? Shocked

I owned a B version, and hope to see it virualized one day Embarassed ! After playing with Korg legacy, i think we'are going this way.

no. what is a virus anyway?
griels
Posted: 28th June 2004 07:11
No.

Virus C and the Moog filters was nice though, but Imposcar screams like a bastard so I feel no need. And the more digital sounds it makes make my stomach turn. Maybe if they put a nice brass emulation in there I might be more eager.

Anyone else?

HiHi

no

i doubt access would make one purely for piracy reasons. also the powercore has the same kinda chips on it as the virus does, so it was relativly easy to do a conversion.

who thinks the words virus, 303, and trance should be mentioned in the forum rules? HiHi

The reason why Access are not going to release a Virus VSTi is exactly the same reason they are developing plugins for Powercore and TDM

I have been waiting for the moment of the next periodic virus outbreak. So with this virus-thread it's back again!

I'm pretty much interested in Access's next-gen 'Prion' project though. Wink

Butr why would anyone want a virtual virtual analogue? I think there are quite few plugins (and shitloads of Reaktor ensembloes) that are as versatile and powerfull as a Virus.

I personally wouldn't mind more synths with more than basic lp/hp/bp filters (ie more combs and weird filters like in the excellent FSM Infector Buzz machine), and PCM snips (not huge ones, but tiny as in D50 or Ravity) as oscilators that would be a decent synth I'd drool over.

We still lack more serious S+S plugins IMO.

There may be softsynths that are as versatile or as powerful as Virus, but c'mon, Virus sounds better than any of them. I'll just have to hoard those pennies and dream about going the TC Powercore route... Razz

Virus? No thanks. If you cant write a hit with Vanguard, you're not gonna do it with a Virus C either. Upside Down

I haven't got the Virus PoCo VST yet... though I plan on it within the next month.

One thing that feels really good about using the Virus (i've been toying with the demo), is that you load it up, have a massive sound, and your CPU is sitting at zero. It's a great feeling for someone who is always afraid that their system will overload with plugins like zt3a+, and so on.

I simply can't wait...! Cool

yes - it's just too sad that you can run with the basic license (which costs about 500$ Shocked ) only a maximum of 16voices/four instances Laughing

$400 bucks... for the basic license... And I'll happy upgrade to the full license once it gets released. 16 parts 64 voices, I believe. Shocked All, at zero CPU.

And why not andromeda A6 as a vsti?

A reason why virus would sound "better" is perhaps the fact that it is hardware and thus a little bit more inspiring?

When i had hardware i sat down and made patches all the time .. now with software .. perhaps five saved patches in two years..
(maybe its just the presets being better now .. dunno)

erm, maybe because Andromeda is a big fat true analog synth? (whereas the Virus is just a computer incl. software on eproms)

But it's placed in a small box with inadequate heat discipation, so it has that trademark warm sound. Clown

And I'm just the opposite. Something about hunched over tiny screens, with tiny buttons in weird positions in the rack just didn't inspire me as much.
