Just wondering, you know those crazy acid lead sounds in house music in early 90's... THere were cheesy versions of it in games like mortal kombat i think... Are there any recommendations??

Aaaah mortal combat, ye, I know what you mean. Listen to the demo from reFX VANGUARD, the preset bank is full of those classic 90ies acid dance lead sounds.

Computer Music Mag's CM101 is pretty good for
squelch resy stuff. But beware, it will fry your speakers at extreme settings of resonance.

ReFX Claw
Bioroid Creakbox Those two'll get you going for your 101s and 303s. Not free, but the ultimate acid synth...ImpOSCar. Well worth the money to invest in. With a 202, 303, MS20 and an OSCar I used to be in acid heaven. The 202s and 303s you can get for free (not perfect, but close enough for most people) but a quality acid machine like impOSCar unfortunately you need to shell out cash for. Many an acid track was made with OSCars and still are, but of course with impOSCar you can do so much more, as it's now poly (the original was duo or mono only) and it sounds just like the original. As mentioned, Vanguard is difficult to be beaten for the hoovers and Beltram-esque sounds. And don't forget e-phonic's Drumatic - a very good 909 drum machine and a bit extra. With that lot all you need to pay for is the impOSCar with the option of Vanguard, and you can reproduce almost any 80s/90s acieeeeeeeeed Oh, and I suppose you need a cheap and tinny sounding reverb a-la Yamaha reverb - any old VST reverb can sound as nasty as one of those |
