you seem to get some pretty good results from "blind luck". maybe if you try and learn too much you'll loose that sponteneity(?)
never really looked at the ms2000 - more controls than you can shake a stick at. steve.

Vurt,

Brian (Absynths creator) hangs out there and theres some awesom pearls of wisdom thrown about. A friendlier bunch I have yet to meet!!! Do me a favour John? Download the Biomechanoid banks. I'd love to hear what they would sound like in the Vurts hands! You wont regret it - I wish I was playing Absynth for the first time again Kisses The drunk Irish guy in the corner, Dave

All's fine with me, I figured tossing em your way was a good promotion for Kolin.
That bonus bank oWnz.. did I hear ew say there was 2? I only knew of one & I spoke to kolin not too long ago..
| ew | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:30 | |||||
Most of the Bio stuff is public domain-there's only two banks that aren't(and for one,the only people who have it besides the man himself are endmusik,fitch and myself-or at least that's what Kol told me...).

| ew | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:35 | |||||
No-you probably didn't have it yet... NI says they're going to be putting up an Absynth user library soon-I'm betting that bank will be the kickoff. ew
| vurt | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:36 | |||||
well i wasnt gonna name names but hey ho
i dont know which bank it is ew i just know it was one from the yahoo site or somewhere bio wanted a donation for it and there were few who did so its quite exclusive like i said i will square it with bio before i use them but i hope hes ok with it from what ive heard of his stuff in the past these should be special
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:36 | |||||
I got one from him last year, I was only like 1 in 4 to donate to him for the yahoo user patches he placed there. It's a patch of 22 kick ass pre's..

Absynth library?
it's about fuckin time..hurah
| ew | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:42 | |||||
Yeah-that one's the FIRST one.The other one I'm talking about is the one I used in No place like OM.It was supposed to be an add-on to the 2.04 update,and NI dropped the ball ew
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 3rd July 2004 18:59 | |||||
ahhh..so is the library an emminent thing, or just NI thinking out loud?
Considering the yahoo group, I'm really surpised there's not a library @ NI already..there's a gazillion patches for absynth all over the net. For that matter, it's curious to me why they don't host patch uploads for ALL the synths, it's not like they're gonna eat up alotta space... That would be fantastic.
| normal | Posted: 3rd July 2004 19:40 | |||||

you don't have mine then ... nobody does except me ... and my precious ... it loves me... my precious does ...
| Symbiant | Posted: 3rd July 2004 19:42 | |||||
First....congrats to Vurt for getting hold of Absynth. As other folks have mentioned....a match made in heaven.... or somewhere similar Second.... erm...just to be clear... the bank ew is refering to is an Abs V2 bank I provided to NI, and AFAIK they still have plans to use it one way or t'other, and I wouldn't say they've necessarily 'dropped the ball' as such....but they certainly are taking their time The 'bonus bank' refered to was a mini bank I emailed to anyone who donated for my last public domain bank....therefore quite an exclusive I'm *almost* finished a new 128 patch V2 bank which will be available from www.infinitetrajectory.co.uk....."soon" http://www.brainstorm-music.com/absynth/3_OldBanks%20-%20folder%202/ cheers [bio] www.universal-communication.net www.kkwantum.co.uk

| vurt | Posted: 3rd July 2004 20:04 | |||||
so its symbiant now then let me know what you would like me to do about a donation to either your goodself for whatever,or some good cause you believe in and it is done i would have done so at the time except i only picked up absynth bout 12 hours ago cheers for listenin btw hope i can do something to impress you with your own sounds
| Miro | Posted: 3rd July 2004 20:33 | |||||

| Tronam | Posted: 3rd July 2004 20:47 | |||||
Aww, but the microKorg takes almost all of the fun out of the instrument (at least for me) by gutting it's brilliant interface layout, stripping it down to 1/4th as many buttons and knobs, halfing the number of vocoder bands and removing the multi-track step sequencer which not only triggers notes but can modulate almost everything. The intuitive VA signal flow and hands-on mod matrix become buried within a small number of cheap multi-function buttons and knobs, while many of the finer details of the synth engine are completely inaccessible due to its crude, minimalistic red LCD that has to approximate alphabetical characters. I mean, why bother getting hardware at all if the interface is completely marginalized like this and the only way to truly control all of it's functions is through a software editor? You might as well just get a more powerful soft synth instead. -Tronam

| Summa | Posted: 4th July 2004 07:23 | |||||
Hmmm... I don't need much knops for that handfull of parameters, I guess my luck is that I worked with far less compfortable to use synths in the 80s and besides the Evolver the microKorg is the synth with most of the knobs in my setup... Vocoder wise I prefere Vokator and I mainly use the microKorg as small controller when soundprogramming and for outdoor use. It's fun having something else to play with while lying in the sun and the gf is sleeping
True, engine wise it's a toy compared to most of my other soft/harware and that's how I use it... ...Summa

Hey vurt
Without going thru this huge thread, but just to let you know I did some ab patches and there on Patch Arena. Working on some more too. TC
| spaceman | Posted: 5th July 2004 10:21 | |||||
I've tried them, they're good
| tconrardy | Posted: 5th July 2004 10:44 | |||||
yeah..not your typical ab patches, but more space-pad inclined.Not so wild. Ya gotta hold a chord for at least 30 seconds for the thing to evolve on some of them. Did try my hand at S%H RYMS however. A bit harder to master on the ab.Trying some wave importing now and using the grainulizer. TC
| vurt | Posted: 5th July 2004 10:51 | |||||
so should i even bother learning to program this i already have over 50meg of glo patches ![]()
| normal | Posted: 5th July 2004 11:00 | |||||
you should familiarize yourself with the copy/paste functions for the osc , filter , mods , envs , and channels ...
it can be quite fun to take parts of different patches , and re-assemble them ... of course , don't forget the sampler and granular oscillators , and importing you own waves ... just a note: from what i've read of the new Rhino specs , Tick has included some of these same functions into Rhino ... that should be quite interesting as well ...
| vurt | Posted: 5th July 2004 11:02 | |||||
i refer you to rule 79b section c subclause 7a-stop temting vurt to spend money,he has a wife and child who need to eat even if he can live on crisps and fresh air
| ew | Posted: 5th July 2004 12:51 | |||||
Oh yeah-there's just so much you can do with it.As normal said,become familiar with copying and pasting between patches.Start saving your favorite parts to the appropriate library,where you can just plug them into any patch after that.Spend some time with the envelopes-that's what makes Absynth as powerful as it is.You can use the pipe or multicomb effects and do VERY abstract physical models. Even Symbiant's patches only scrape the surface of what can be done ew
| vurt | Posted: 5th July 2004 13:44 | |||||
i wasnt actually being serious just pointin out that since the start of this thread ive een sent it now goes over 60 meg of stuff for absynth

Absynth is my main synth. Its one of those rare synths that lends itself well to any sound you can imagine. Songs don't sound like they were constructed with a singular synth either, which is nice
