I have not seen any good tutorials for fm7 out there, so I was wondering how can I create my own presets in fm7 and how can I modified a preset that is already made to create a new preset.

Do a search on programming FM. There is a bit in the FM7 that is atypical of FM synths in general, but if you get FM programming, the FM7 will be easier. Try here:
