AuthorTopic: "Robot" speech synthesizer
declassified
Posted: 7th July 2004 12:14
I'm looking for a very basic speech synthesizer.
Sounds easy, but i'm not searching for VirSyn Cantor or Vocaloid.
I need a simple VSTi where you insert a text, (optionally) choose from 2-3 voice types and then click a button (or MIDI input) and the inserted text is spoken.
I don't need a melody by an incoming MIDI signal.
Where can i get this?

Do a search for "speak spell" and you'll see a long thread on this topic.

First one that comes to mind is AnalogX SayIt.

someone posted an ensemble in the reaktor user library that 'says' stuff, but I have't dug too deeply into it.

As a VSTi, I don't know of any myself..

xoxos' thingy does make words if I'm correct.

if you want a speech synthesizer, why don't you want cantor or vocaloid? You ain't gonna find better that I know of..

I simply don't want Cantor or Vocaloid because I don't need every of their features. If i need realistic vocals i hire someone to sing them.
I don't want the absolutely best available. For example, i'd prefer SpringVerb to EasyVerb though EV is "better" in every aspect.

Short of Cantor and Vocaloid, the closest you'll come to a VSTi is the speech tool which comes with Fruity. Still not technically a VSTi- you'll need FL. Otherwise, you're stuck generating speech and triggering it from a sampler.
