Do a forum search for GPO and you’ll find lots of opinions.

Its the best orchestral library I own.

Its the one library I have tended not to use much. Not that I think there's much wrong with it but I've just got other libraries that do the business better. Problem is that when I bought it along with the Silver orchestra, my only other main orchestra library was the Vitous. Once I updated from Silver to Gold and purchased a few others like Sonic Implants Strings, the Garritan seemed pretty poor by comparison.

Sometimes its just worth paying a bit extra for something better.

But the Garritan website is just impeccable and help is on tap there. They really know their customer service and how to impress visually!

Let's put it in perspective here.

GPO $249
Symphonic Strings $895
QLSO Gold $999

A bit extra? That looks a LOT more than a 'bit' extra. Wink Believe me, I've spent the extra dough on the big name libraries too (Dan Dean, VSL, Project Sam), but comparing seems a bit silly when we're talking totally different price points.

Well, I was thinking directly of EWQLSO Gold, which is much better IMO and not extravagantly more.

i love GPO. imho, it sounds great and works well. i havent had any troubles with it.

from what i can tell from QLSO's mp3's, GPO's tone is much warmer and far less of a hollywood "in your face" kind of sound. i wanted the warmth so i chose GPO and im very happy that i did. its been worth every penny to me.

Well, maybe to you or I, it's not extravagently more, BUT the market it's destined for, the poor college student, it's already high enough as is. Not to mention, I've seen a *LOT* of guys on here that $300 is their budget for the year, period, if not less.

At any rate, GPO gives them everything they need, esp if they have nothing. But for you or I who might be demanding the best of the best and already have tons of sequencers, and samples, etc., it's a different story.

In short, Gary nailed his market perfectly with the right product with the right price.

Hi new to KVR. I don't have GPO but the demos on their site sound very, very convincing

I see there's 25% off the price of EWQLSO Gold until tomorrow (and the rest of the stuff in their independence day sale)

http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=26

Also applies to upgrades

Trouble is if you are in the UK you still end up paying another 25% on vat and duty Mad

This is probably next on my "to buy" list. At the price I have to compare it to one of the Roland SRX orchestral ROM's. I'm guessing that for the size, GPO should sound much better. You would expect them to do a good job programming the sounds and not using massive amounts of samples as a crutch.

Can anyone compare GPO to the Roland SRX ROM’s?
