AuthorTopic: Clavia Lab - new fre vsti released

New free vsti - Clavia Lab is now available for download at http://www.simple-media.co.uk

This is a hybrid analogue and physically modelled, experimental electric piano, with a very nice sound, lots of flexibility and plenty of dynamic control. Instructions can be found along with the full size image and there is an audio demo.

Also at Simple-Media, instructions have been added to the full size images of the other free vst instruments (Spook Keys, String Thing and the Shepherd).

A free synth skin can be downloaded from the 'stuff' page and there have been some other changes and additions.

Hi Saul. I like your vstis, especially the theremin. Thanks. I don't see the new one you mentioned on your vsti page though.

It is there, down at the bottom of that page, if you cannot see it maybe you should go to the page and then refresh or try emptying your internet cache. Good luck, but if you still have a problem let me know and I will go and check it out.

The last thing I see on the vsti page is "the shepherd" then some coloured boxes and a "home" and "go to top" link. A couple of people (me included) had the same problem when "Mr. Ray" was released. It would not show up on some systems. The only way I got it was when someone posted the direct link.

The GUI (like all the others) is very nice. I really like the colours you use. The are eye catching but not so bright that they are hard on the eyes. Sound? Well my system is pretty fucked up right now and I am stumped as to how to fix it. I get a lot of crackles but that is nothing to do with your synth. It happens with all my commercial plugs just the same. Still I like the sound I heard. Especially the mellow presets like the "Basic Piano", "Swirlitzer" and "E Zee Piano".

Thanks Saul

I listened to the MP3 demo. Is there supposed to be distortion in it?

Thanks,

Lawrence

Yes, there is, if you download the vsti you will notice that certain settings introduce a bit of 'dirt' into the tone, I found that it was a side effect of the method used to create the sound that when certain controls are set to high levels in combination there is a pleasant warm distortion, I didn't try to eliminate because I felt it added character to the instrument, however, with a bit of tweaking Clavia Lab can produce tones with no distortion at all.

Thanks very much for this. It sounded good so I put it in an edit with z3ta. It still sounded good. Very nice work.

Again a lovely vsti with a sound of its own. I really enjoyed playing this one Wink

Very nice gui, looks good and easy colours for the eye.

You really give the user a lot of options regarding the oscillators and always offer alot of turning knobs Wink

Any chance of hearing the piece you put it into - I like to see how you us the instrument and I always love feedback (no pun intended), be it positive or negative. Let me know if you have an mp3 with a link for the edit.

Yes, i know Wink
But some people dont have that patience to look. A vsti-link on the main page would make more people try your synth Smile

I kind of half agree with what you say, but I have a site with more than just the VSTs on and I want to encourage people to explore, what is more I have posted some direct links.

The real shame is that I have tried several times to get the instruments included in the KVR news (latterly in the SE section) and in the database, which would mean direct links were provided for all the instruments but so far have not been successful with my submissions.

The "Fat Hands" preset is THE perfect cheesy electric piano sound I've been searching for ever since I gave up my Casio years ago. Awesome.

Is it supposted to make that clicky popping sound?

Im to tired to cut the quotes .. hehe
At least i work in that way that if i find something on a site interesting, i check the rest of it out .. dont know about others though!

With this i mean: If someone posts a link to a page where i can download free vsti's, i will then check out the rest of the site .. maybe there are other programs, some music, poems, politics .. you name it Very Happy

All clicks, pops, burps, whirrs, rumbles, squeaks and farts are purely intentional, part of the character of the instrument...lol

Sorry, this is clavia as in keys (you know clavichord, harpsichord, clavinova, and various other keyboards). I think if I produced a Nord Lead I might be in trouble if I also used the name Clavia, but there are already some nord lead copies out there including a rather good one for SynC Modular.
