Has anyone else noticed how much a little compression helps improve the sound of any of the additive synths? Overall I tend to find their sound a little thin but a little compression really brings them forward and fills out the sound, much more so than other synths it seems.

i still play around a lot with the free microTera and i think it's sort of an additive/fm crossbreed

in any case TubeLimit is a tube/warming/expander/compression effect from the same fellow that gave us TLS maximizer and it does pretty much as you say. It works nicely on drum lines and bass, but I think it does a little something special with certain spectrum-based Tera/microTera sounds.

Just curious what compressor you use on the additives? What type of settings?

Cheers

Mainly I've been using Kjaerhus Golden Compressor with pretty stock settings. Gain at 0, threshold turned down to the middle of the range or so and ratio at 2:1 or above. I haven't spent much time experimenting with these though. Seems to do nice things for both Cameleon and Cube.

Perfect! Very Happy

I've got GCo-1 and it was Cameleon that I was thinking about using a compressor on.

Thanks
