its availalbe through rewire - it has very good real time sampler performance - ie much better than halion, kontakt exs 24 etc

it will be the only thing compatible with new giga libararies that include their own convultions for body resonance - it now hosts vst fx so that you can tweak away

your damn right im considering it

The Emulator X sounds were the worst "included" sounds I've experienced so far. Not to mention that it was quite buggy. Enough that I took it back after 3 days. VST is great, but worthless if it doesn't sound good.

Since I put a lot of weight on companies who respect their customers I can only say to Tascam,

keep it

The chart on that page is wrong I believe. It says the 4gb Vienna Orchestral samples come only with the Solo version, but I'm quite sure it is the Orchestral version that contains this library.

But yes, I am considering it. I can get the Orchestral version at academic pricing for $329.00 at MTLC.net.

I would, but my soundcard doesn't have the GSIF drivers.

yes - sure Rolling Eyes

Quote:

Emulator X Sounds:
Emulator X Studio and Emulator X ship with over 2 GB of sounds, including:

* X Producer
Proteus Composer - all 1024 presets from E-MU's Proteus 2000 sound module
E-MU General MIDI - collection of sounds for use with standard MIDI files
Hip Hop Producer - over 100 of E-MU's legendary urban sounds
Saint Thomas Strings - symphonic strings
* Studio Grand
E-MU's definitive sampled grand piano, optimised for the Emulator X streaming engine
* Beat Shop One
Acoustic Drum Kits - brand new modern, rock and studio kits
Loops and Grooves - six banks of loops and grooves, at a variety of BPM tempos

I always thought the Proteus (and especially the 2000) sounds like crap....

Can you run Rewire between 2 DAWs ?

I would be thinking of running this on it's own PC.

Well you know, no matter how good GS3 may or may not turn out to be, when it finally ships... Rolling Eyes

Any company which treats its customers the way Tascam does, just don't deserve the business.....

Yeah, what's going on over there? Pick a ship date and stick to it. Doh!
alpi
Posted: 11th August 2004 16:22
yeah, Tascam bought the design for a spaceship and then allocated the full resources of a paper plane building company to it.....

Aaaargghhh Drunk Doh!

I've been using the SFZ+ beta with giga compatibility for some time now. It works very nicely. Never tried GS, but it seems like a right pain in the arse compared to SFZ+.

Emu x sounds that came with it sucked, but then it's a sampler not a rompler Very Happy I think it's te best sounding vsti sampler yet.

I've played with Gigastudio 2.54 and it really is the best sampler for acoustic instruments bar none.

Are Tascam really that bad so's to fuck up this awesome instrument ?

I'm contemplating it in conjunction with the Vienna Symphonic Cube for a soundtrack I have to do...

But it won't be me paying, thank god... I actually have a budget for once.

You could either treat it as an external (hardware) synth, or take a look at FX-Max, they have a way to do Giga in VSTI, either local or teleported.
