Hi all,
I want it but I have no idea if I'll like it. Watched the video on their website, looks pretty cool. If you have it can you let me know if you like it or not. Thanks

Hi,
Nobody on this forum uses Stylus. Only kidding....I have it and although I don't use it as much as I used to, the update is supposed to be killer. If your not in a big hurry, you might want to wait until you see some user reviews for the new one...but it's a pretty good bet that if Spectrasonics makes it, it will be worth having. You haven't mentioned what type of music you are into. The current version is somewhat restrictive in terms of styles of music you can use it for (although there really are no rules) but the update should accomodate any type of genre that turns your crank.... it's very hushhush at the moment. dano

tuz, I don't own a copy but I spent some time auditioning it. I'm not sure it would suit your music as well as some of the alternatives. Some (many?) of the loops are aimed at hip hop, RnB rather than clicks / glitch, and they have a definite lo fi feel, and by that I mean some of the individual hits were not better that the stuff in my RM1X, which I'm desperate to improve on (ie. loads of samples in a limited space means low grade/low sampling rates).
If you're looking for clean, clear hits and loops, then you might wanna spend some time auditioning it against something like a dedicated drum synth. Just my opinion after spending a few hours with it. But if you're looking for a library of off the shelf loops that can be easily edited (to some extent), and don't need pristine quiality then yes, it would be great. I really think you need to hear it yourself. |
