AuthorTopic: Best way to record a VST synth controlled by USB MIDI to WAV

I'm relatively new to the PC music world. I'm using a USB MIDI keyboard to control my softsynths. I want to be able to tap out a melody and be able to record that melody to a .wav so I can sequence it in ACID (although I am open to replacing ACID as well). This might not be the best way to do this.. but it's the only way I really know how to do it. Currently I use the record feature in Fruity Loops studio to record a piano roll and then I export it to a .wav file. This works OK but it's kind of a pain if I get the piano roll wrong.. then I have to clear everything out that I just recorded and do it all over again. I tried Cubase but it was insanely complicated and not very intuitive for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on a simple way to accomplish this? What is everyone else using to accomplish this?

I use the "insanely complicated" way in Cubase.

It's actually not that complicated once you wrap your brain around the logic of how a computer records audio.

Visit the Fruity/Cubase websites for more info.
