AuthorTopic: An old WINDOWS LOGIC user now on CUBASE SX....

Hey Dudez.

I've worked over 5 years now with LOGIC on WINDOWS... 6 months ago I switched slowly over to SX 2.2 now... BUT dudez.. It dont rockz realy... the main THING I miss (and I miss a lot of thingz in SX..) is the great EXS24 MKII integration from LOGIC... a great sampler easy to use.... I try to work in SX with KONTAKT... but DUDEZ... thatz not the same shit... I WANT A FUCKING VST SAMPLER with "+" and "-" selection - I work with over 100.000 sampler programz... I think KONTAKT or other machines are cool ... but there are a lot of more thingz that I still miss... sometimes I produce a track complete in SX.. but after I that I produce 3 tracks in LOGIC.... Its situation like with an old (ex)-girl friend and your new girlfriend.. the older f***s better - but the new looks better....

Why did you buy SX then?

halion has better patch management than exs 24 by a mile - chose the wrong sampler mate

but its about workflow - while that in cubase could be better i find that in any other sequencer im just much slower - even the supposedly quick ones like traktion

just persevere - if its got the features you need you will learn to use them fast

I would agree on a LOT of things where Logic is way better than SX - but the EXS (while being excellent for bread'n'butter patches, at least once you got them done) seriously isn't anything that'd make me worry when switching.

Both Kontakt and HALion will load the mappings of the EXS fine (the rest of the settings will have to be readjusted) and once you got used to their way of working I'm sure you won't miss the EXS THAT much anymore.
Yes, there's some pros and cons for every sampler, but seriously, all of them are useable (apart from maybe Vsampler).

Apart from that, why don't you just keep on working in Logic as long as possible, until some serious technical limitation will more or less force you to switch to SX? Until now, apart from a few technical goodies I can't see much of a reason to switch.

i worked with logic many years
and switched to sx now, just like you.
i agree many things seems to be easier
with logic, but after spending some days with
cubase iīm totaly happy. i discovered so many
functions & effects (great and easy to use timestratching tools,
filter plugs, bitcrusher, delays, synths etc.) even the workflow speeded up, and i miss nothing.
i think the difference between us is that i didnīt expect the same workflow like it used to be with logic.
i mean, youīll never be happy with your new girlfriend if you expect her to be like your ex... so give your
new one a chance and donīt look back matey Wink

imo every girl has a potential to be better you need to uncover her rhythm tho.
