They are talking about using a GPU for effects such as reverb, chorus, etc. These being utilized in synths too, I would figure some of these heavy horse synths could be trimmed down and optimised. This opens the door to some new and interesting things coming down the road. Or a giant road block. | |

So much R&D and competition has gone into the videocard market that it only makes sense to find way to utilize the horsepower. If I didn't have a full time job, I'd jump on this problem like a horny monkey.
It's a great idea. It reminds me of the programmers that used the Amiga's blitter to run Conway's Life program. | |

They've announced that they are working on effects, not an entire synth. How about a synth with built in "convolution reverb" or many new possibilities? |
