Hello.

I'm moog modular V user and I recently upgraded to MMV 2.

I like it but they don't have proper manual with download
so I'm thinking about buying the $12 CD with paper manual.

did anybody got this???

is it worth the moeny?
how good is the manual?

I bought it two weeks ago but the bugger hasn't arrived yet. I thought that I would have an inkling of how to utilise the ext. in by now. It doesn't help that the Arturia forum is down. They have just moved premises so anything could have happened.
When it eventually arrives though, I'll let you know.

It sounds like a good deal, and I'll probably order it but I want to know first that the manual is a new one.

A few weeks ago someone posted, here or in some other forum, that he'd received the version 1 manual with his version 2 upgrade CD. I don't know whether they're doing as he said, or if Arturia made a shipping error, or maybe he was mistaken and it really was a new manual.

Once that's cleared up, for $12... sure.

What's your host? Maybe we can experiment our way to a solution. Been meaning to try this.

I'm using cubase sx2. The ext.in preset and the right click menu suggests to me that it uses its own modules which doesn't make it exactly an external in. I've been messing about with it but had no joy. Also I haven't been able to get a peep out of mmv2 when using it as a vstfx. I get a dry signal but no fx and its driving me crazy. Why is it, the things we can't do become all consuming? But yes, I'm willing to give it another go.
Cool bit of kit aint it?

I got MMV2 as a download. It comes with a quickstart guide that is good enough for me. Haven't tried external in, but have tried most else. I love being able to swap modules.

Very nice! Unfortunately I may have to shut down. Tornado Warning time. 9_9 What a woild, what a woild... I use Sonar 3.1.1 and Live 4, so I'll go at it from that angle and if I find anything before being blown off the map I'll let you know.

Whee, that line's past. Looks like the next big storms will be here in an hour or two. In the meantime...

In Sonar, I can drop a MMV2 into the "effects bin" for an audio track. When Sonar plays audio on that track, the signal appears at the "ext left" and "ext right" jacks on the little strip above the keyboard. You can route those to filters, VCAs, switch the effects in or out, etc.

You won't hear anything unless the master VCA's envelope is off zero, so if you aren't playing notes on the Moog, be sure to trigger / hold open its output amplitude envelope(s) some other way.

I know nothing about Cubase, so can't tell you the specifics, but try just dropping it in where you would an effects plug-in and see if it works. You'll have to do a little wiring but it's easy enough to slap together a quick test patch.

BTW, I used an FM7 to feed the audio track, then routed that through the MMV2. Anything that will pump sounds through a track effect should do fine. I haven't tried MMV2 as a send effect but don't expect it to behave differently in that role.

I can't see any way to use MMV2 as an effect in Live 4. Might be a limitation of this version of Live, or maybe I've missed the obvious (that's not uncommon).

[edit] Okay, works the same as a send too. Or even on the Master bus (pretty useless but why rule it out).

I'm comparatively new to Ableton, so don't know many Live tricks. I'll plug away at that for a bit, see what turns up. The routing options look promising.

Hi, my disk arrived today with manual, a quick look shows it has v2 on the cover and there is something about the sample & hold module when I flipped through, so, yes, they are definately shipping a new manual

ChamomileShark, thanks! I'll scrape up $12 somehow (make big eyes at the mate most likely). Smile

I forgot to mention..there is something about presets, this advice is from Arturia..install the MMV2 into it's own folder, not the MMV1 folder. Then you export your sounds from MMV1 and import into the MMV2. I think some of mine are sounding a bit different, I need to look but too tired right now. Effectively you will then have two versions that you can choose from your host (or have 2 stand alone versions).

Yep, mine just arrived and yes, it has 2.0 on the top left of the front cover. A brief glance through tells how to use the ext. in so I reckon its fun time tonight-(sorry love, I'm buzy, you know how it is!)

Mine arrived as well.

What knocked me out was the fact that it seems that the version 2 upgrade disc is a complete install.

I was worried that installing v.2 would necessitate installing v1 first (tedious!) but I was able to install full version from the new disc. Thank you Arturia!!

On the flipside, the booklet that shipped with v1 is nicer (better paper and binding, for what its worth).

I can't say enough about how refreshing it is that Arturia chose to make this upgrade free. Would that some other companies (who shall remain nameless) would learn this lesson:

Treat your customers well and they will reward you with loyalty.

Cheers,
DJSL

Have you tried the MMV in Ableton Live 4? I downloaded the demo and the sound stutter when then GUI is shown! When the GUI isn't shown it works though. I have a P4 2.8Ghz with 512MB RAM so I'm well over the minimum requirements for the demo. Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this?

I tried to post a bug report on the arturia forum but there was some error when submitting it.

jah1234, interesting you should mention this. I don't get stuttering in Live 4 with the full version of MMV2, but I do get something like that using the demo version of Arturia Minimoog in a host I can't mention at the moment... only when the GUI appears.

Maybe I just wasn't stressing MMV2 enough? I'll mess with this over the weekend.

[edit] Arturia forum: yeah. *sigh* It's semi-working, but I can't post new messages (using Mozilla Firefox 0.9.2), just reply in existing threads. And I always get that obnoxious error message, even when a message successfully posts. What a shame -- synth from heaven, forum from hell!
