Hey guys this is also my first post... Could you compare and contrast the two for me... Which would be more suited for downtempo electronic music/ house music..... Thanks

RM IV does percussion synthesis as well as samples, Battery only plays samples. For using samples they both have similar features if I remember correctly...
Personally I prefer RM IV

Devon has a very thorough review of RMIV compared/contrasted to DR 008
not quite the same but a good coverage of features that should enable a further comparison with Battery

Some quick differences:
* RMIV is more actively developed - see the Linplug KVR forum... * RMIV includes a midi groove library. * Battery has more 'sample slots' * Battery has better drag-and-drop sample support (re 'Kit building') * RMIV has basic per-module effects (distortion/crush/compress) and filter. Don't think Battery does. * RMIV has a drum synth as well as sample playback. * RMIV has a limited (but handy) mod matrix. Personally, I've gone for RMIV, after having a cursory look at Battery I thought RMIV to be the better option. The new midi groove feature wins it for me, as I'm not a particularly good drum programmer. There's also a group buy for RMIV going on in the Linplug forum btw... Just my 2p, mike

Well thanks for the input guys... I dont mind programming drums..... As i have a elektron machine drum among other things... Im just looking for the best way to build kits and change them up on the fly IE a little distortion. A little chop here or there or what ever..... And i am also using OSX soo that also limits me out of some of the others drum modules.... Any more opinions would be great... Again im mainly doing house/ambient stuff/breaks... |
