cpu usage starts to creep up after some minutes till it's at like 70% and I have to quit Cubase! Is anyone else experiencing this? it doesn't seem to be a denormal problem. makes it currently unusable Crying or Very sad

Hi Theo

I've just emailed you an update that should sort it out.

Is there a planned official update to the M-Tron?

I've also seen the CPU usage creep happen in Project 5.

And what's the latest on the Megatron?

I had the exact same problem and GMedia sent me the update. The Update took care of the CPU problem. My CPU now stays at a steady 10-20%.

However, now I'm getting error messages ("A serious error has occurred...") everytime I load certain patches. It is only 15 specific patches, but I get the error 100% of the time I load these patches. Other patches load fine.

I also can no longer select patches from Cubase's patch list (patch field is blank). I can only change patches from within the M-tron instrument screen itself. I've written to GMedia and have been waiting a couple of days for a reply. In the meantime, can anyone help?

Has anyone experienced this? Should I uninstall and reinstall M-Tron? If so, what are the exact steps? Should I replace the 15 problem patches with fresh ones from the orignal Tape Bank CDs? Would this help? How can I get my Cubase patch lists back for M-Tron? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Babz

I also got this update some months ago because of having the same CPU problem. But it didn´t work for me, only getting an error message of missing library files or something similiar. I reported this to Dave Spiers, but heard then nothing more from him. Sad

Here is the initial thread started by me half a year ago (should have been enough time to fix this bug)

Babz, I cannot remember that a patch list was ever available in my hosts (but I don´t have Cubase), for whatever M-Tron version, because I think that M-Tron doesn´t transmit the patch list to the host. Also, as far as I know, M-Tron doesn´t react on program change messages.

But maybe anybody else will correct me?

the beta update works fine here..

have you got your mtron sounds in the same folder, or a shortcut folder named "m-tron" leading to the sounds?
Babz

Yes, all of my M-Tron patch files are in a single folder called "M-Tron." I have all 4 tape banks. Most work fine, but 15 specific ones give the error message when I call them up. They don't appear to be from any one tape bank/CD, etc.. Here is the list:

Problem M-Tron files

Bass Acc.
Trmbns + Trmpts
Eng. Accordian
ARP_Trombone
Orchestra_Moog
Tripled8_Choir
M300_Solo_Viol
Moog_Bass_Bells
M300_Strings
MkII_Violins
AccB_Viols_Brs
MkII_Trombone
MkII_Tenor_Sax
Cello+Strings
MF Choir
[This last one (MF Choir) has its own unique error message: "M-Tron Error Couldn't open bank requested! Has it been deleted from disk?" And no it has NOT been deleted and is still in the same location on my HD where it has always been.]

Do these specific patches work for you? What version of Cubase are you using?

Also, FWIW, here is the the error information from the Cubase crash log.

Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION

Any help anyone?

Thanks,
Babz

A possible reason for that could be that these files weren´t properly converted during installation (the bank files cannot only be copied, but they have to be converted). I would recommend to re-install the banks again.

Yesterday I got from Dave (who is really a very nice guy and who does an excellent customer support!) the new M-Tron.dll including 2 system .dlls.

Same problem here.

However, the new stuff that I had to put in the system folder crashed my PC Confused

I haven't been recording much lately, but went back to check and M-tron is making the CPU go up over time. I think I may have an older version to try.

Any other suggestions?

David, did you write this Dave? It seems that he wants to release this new version soon, so it would be important for him to know this problem.

Anyone who got the new v.4.6 can reproduce the following bugs?

1. When I´ve loaded patch #n (n>1), then change the selector to A or B and then again to C, there is always patch #1 indicated, but played will be #n.
2. ´Sad Strings´ and ´Saxophones´ are sounding both exactly the same ... like Sad Strings.
3. ´Ch_Harp1´ and ´Ch_Harp2´ are both sounding like choirs.
Maybe some other instruments are also not sounding right, I didn´t test them all.

These bugs aren´t present in the old v.4.1, which I still own.

i can confirm all of these. The only one i can't confirm is hapr TWO cause i get a harp on that, but with one, yes, i get the choir. No sax either. there's about 3 other patches that have similar symptoms, i will have to go trhough them all again to find exactly which are wrong.

Hi AndreasE:

I wasn't able to reproduce the errors you mention.

However, I'm happy to report that GMedia has recently sent me a new version of 4.6 and it seems to have solved all my problems. All patches load fine and no processor overloads. Hopefully it will solve your errors too.

Thanks to GMedia for prompt and persistant help with this!

Best,
Babz

Thanks Dave!!

Do I need to add those system files as well, or just the dll?

Posted: 9th November 2004 10:50
If you're using XP just the .dll - if you're using an older version of Windows you might have to add them.

But pleeeaaase after adding
- tape banks browser and attack/release faders accessible at the same time (i.e. removing the unnecessary A-B-C switch).
- animating the keys when played via MIDI.
