For strange new "outer space" type voice effects I'd use Vokator or Spectral Delay...

If you mean 1950s-style sci-fi movie effects, look for "theremin" sounds. You can do a wavering "landing UFO" sound with just about any VA that has a VCO, an envelope generator, and a LFO. If you haven't tried sound design from scratch, check out Triangle II or another good free VA -- play around and try things. You might discover all sorts of new sounds, and you can save them as presets.

But always remember -- nothing else sounds as good as genuine sampled space aliens and flying saucers.

I've never heard an actual alien, unless you mean you're looking for a VST that speaks Mexican.

http://www.simple-media.co.uk/music/vsti/vsti.htm#top
spook keys, a virtual theremin

http://www.thepiz.org/vst.html
vsti with strange results, atonal drones and sweeps and bizarre sounds...

http://www.audiobulb.co.uk/create/sophia/Sophia.zip
ambientenerator, huge cpu-load

to make out some strange alien-alike-vocals out of usual vocals the idea of using vokator is fine, also get some stuff like tobybear's madshifta which does not control the formants to just by pitching a vocal it starts sounds very strange and bizarre...

and there are loads of ensembles for reaktor like the travelizer which might fit to your needs to deconstruct vocals...

Ok - enough is enough. Aliens don't sound funny.

Has it EVER occurred to you that trying to mimic the gruntings of a mere ape descendant is seriously bad for the throats? Try talking dolphin - oh I forgot - you can't can you. Dolphins can communicate with you - can you talk to them - yes, shout man language and wave a fish. Pathetic isn't it.

Yes talk through a vocoder if you like. When we want to sound like a human we stick all our heads in a Pogrovian Warsal and blow really hard. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Try it.

What? Never met an alien Surprised ? I meet them all the time, in my daily file, here on K-v-R, etc. Of course many of them are disguised as human beings, but they can't fool me. They use retro-vocoders to sound like humans and meta-samplers to make their music sound like trance, hip-hop, etc. Beware of them.
