AuthorTopic: *Need arrangement technique suggestions*

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if I can get some suggestions for a method of arranging beats. I want to record a vocal and guitar track in a studio, then make a beat for those tracks at home on my computer. I want to know how you would go about this? I've tried making the vocal/guitar track a channel in the step sequencer of Fruity Loops, but it is not very composer-friendly this way. It's hard to arrange for specific parts in the middle of the vocal/guitar track like the chorus. I'd also like to be able to manipulate the vocal/guitar track (i.e. slow it down tremendously, scratch it, etc.). If I need to change software, I'll do it, but I'd prefer to go with Fruity Loops, since it's what I know best.

I was thinking I might need to go with a sampler, but I'm a complete noobie to them so I'm not sure if that's right.

For a start you should be using FL's "Audio Clip" for guitar / vocal tracks rather then the sampler which is best suited for single shot samples or samples that are only a bar or two long.

Next, if you can wait until FL5 (probably before the end of the year), there's going to be a lot more options for manipulating these clips, including direct automation and time stretching / pitch shifting.

Thank you, I will give FL's Audio Clip a try.

I think you should do this with a none pattern sequencer! Smile

The host like FL studio work with patterns - that mean loops, and what you need is something in cubase stile, then put the vocals in track #1, guitars in #2, and the tracks below are free for drums.

Although i'd suggest you to make a drum line and with a drum playback record the vocals and guitars!

Did i answered your question? Hope i did!
