Hi!
We have charged $99 (slight variations due to currency fluctuations) for the Studio Setup, 12 plugins, and decided that updates should be free. For the last 4-5 months the flood of requests to have the software resent to the customers (due to a corrupted hard disk, lots reg details etc) has increased. We now get around 2-4 requests per day. Since it's done manually we decided to charge $10 for assisting the customer retrieving the latest version, the registration details etc. It's nost just a matter of passing on download links. It requires some work, which I won't go into, since it has to do with the copy protection. I know that the customer really wants everything to be free We might implement a web page where customers can download their copies by first logging in. But it would take some time to develop such a scheme. Any thoughts on a simple, but secure, solution? Kind regards Mikael Hillborg MHC Synthesizers and Effects http://www.mhc.se

Mikael,
I understand it occupies your time to retrieve download links, however please also bear in mind that paying customers are the ones who should not be hindered or have a disadvantage from the copy protection you use for your products. I hope you are reconsidering the copy protection approach in favor of one which causes yourself and your customers less headaches ultimately. best Markus

Yeah right, absolutely. Any suggestions concerning a technical solution? Any open source done for a purpose like this (retrieving customer data and sending it)? Kind regards Mikael Hillborg MHC Synthesizers and Effects http://www.mhc.se

Not I, not a developer myself. Maybe share-it could used to retrieve download links by the customer themselves?

We use swreg.org, but have a very special solution which makes it a bit complicated. Thanks anyway. Kind regards Mikael Hillborg MHC Synthesizers and Effects http://www.mhc.se |
