Fellow Absynth2+CubaseSxx users, tell me, are you not supposed to be able to program Absynth2 when running it as a VST plugin!? It works fine for me loading and playing patches, but I can only program it when running it as a standalone program. When running it as a Cubase plugin I'm not able to open the programming menus. Very annoying! No, VERY annoying!! (Have the latest versions of Absynth2 and Cubase SL2 btw).

should work.. try a new project, see what happens

it's known to mess up a bit sometimes, eg. changing preset when moving back to host

make sure you have the last update for absynth

This has been known to happen as spaceman said.
The fix;
While SL is open,open Absynth.Open another window and browse to your Absynth program folder.Click on AbsynthEdit(the other program icon on that folder).Make your edits and save your SL project.

The edit windows should work fine after that.

Y'know what? I remembered my problem incorrectly. I'm sorry. (Well actually I did have problems editing patches before, but updating to 2.04 solved that problem). My problem now is rather that I can't audition patches as I edit them. When AbsynthEdit is started from the VST i/f, it loses contact with Cubase and no longer reads midi in or even plays sounds when virtual keys are pressed. I have to jump back and forth between AbsynthEdit and Cubase to edit and listen.

Perhaps this is normal operation? The manual doesn't say anything about it really. I think it's weird, though. And I don't even have that "Host button" (for quick switching between Absynth and host) that the manual talks about.

I was going back through the Absynth forum posts and bug reports looking for a fix for this.Some people had reported this with earlier versions of Absynth and SX,but it seems to have been fixed in 2.04(2.05 Mac)except for RTAS users Confused

Check the .dll version that SX is using and the version of AbsynthEdit to make sure that they're the proper versions.If the .dll's the incorrect version,do a search for Absynth 2.0.dll on your machine and delete all of them,then run the latest updater again,this time only installing the VST plugin.Browse to the correct folder-DONOT use previous folder or default options.

If the AbsynthEdit's the wrong version,run the updater again and update everything.Make sure you specify your VST folder.
