AuthorTopic: and the award for Most Innovative Plugin goes to.....

So I'm curious to know what plugs you all think deserve special mension for innovation. That counts all the VA synths out, all the classic effects (reverb, delays etc). Only pure twisted genious should apply.

For me, I'm still amazed by Devine Machine Love. That thing is out there on its own, and I'm sad more people haven't found it as inspiring as I do.

If you had to pick one plugin to be given an award for innovation, which would it be?

Zynaddsubfx
Ensembler
Crystal
e-phonic tapedelay
SIR
Asynth
Phatmatic Pro

These are the ones that deserve extra attention!

Out of all tho' I'd have to choose ZYNADDSUBFX

I don't know how many of you have checked out Swarm Synth by Anarchy, but that thing makes sounds nothing else can. It's a tricky synth and it takes some finesse to get clean (if that's what you want), but I feel it's a very unique and innovative plugin (especially considering how old it is).

By the way, has anyone got ZynAddSubFX working as a plugin under SX 2.2.0.35? I've pretty much given up on that thing.

Maybe one that's overlooked more than it should be:

SymptOhm: MelOhman

The Whole MelOhman concept combined with the OhmForce way of providing an ADSR and LFO for just about every parameter is just awesome. If gives you control over everything in the synth.

What I like about this is that I've been able to give any parameter of any synth a lot of control until now using FL Studio's Peak Controller among the other Internal Controllers for automatic automation on synth parameters, but OhmForce have made it possible to do most of this stuff directly from the synth saving lots of time and making it a breeze.

The SyncGrain osciallators in SymptOhm are another thing I love - the SyncGrain concept is a great way to provide unlimited amounts of sounds as well as do some other funky things like mangle loops and stuff. Once you get the hang of using these osciallators they're capable of lots of things. The Brightness knob on the Sub Oscillator is pretty cool as well.

Theres tons of other things out there that are very innovative and very cool, but SymptOhm breaks a lot of new ground all in one package. It's got great oscillators, a great patch system (MelOhman), and it's basically got Quad FrOhmage built into the back of it. It's got a nice interface, and it's just very easy to program once you understand it.

absynth is getting a bit old to take the 'most innovative' category, but it is still in a class of its own imho.

eve is exceptional for its easy three-layer sound manipulation, low cpu hit and efficient one-page gui

retro delay can do some wild effects and is a very interesting device - especially good since its free Smile

Yeah I've to agree with that. I'd love to see the Melohman concept on more synths to be honest (it does wonders to the forthcoming MiniMonster, believe me Love).

Gonna check out Zynaddsubfx in a bit. That GUI looks a bit scary though!

This synth is capable of anything!

This is one highly underrated synth imo!

I use it in my master chain every time, along with Bram's Anechoic Room Sim.

When I was at school one of the guys there was acting all clever walking along a really thin wall, last I heard (after he fell) they gave him one of those glass balls , I think it was like crystal and he could tune in the radio on it, big hit with the chicks apperantly.

but Stylus could also get the "RAM whore of the year"

and BFD could get "buggiest of the year"

but who cares, they are still the most innovative IMO
