You have to use an envelope set to control driven. Then you can automate that CC from within your host.

Sorry I don't know. I've never used Sonar.

Think of it as Absynth having a playback header on each envelope. When you put an envelope in CC mode, this header becomes active.

You can then move this header by using the standard 1-127 control change messages.

Not really.With Absynth and control driven envelopes,the main thing you to remember is that the start point of the envelope is 0 and the end point is 127.So,for any particular value the CC is sending at any given time,that's how far along the envelope it's travelled.
This leads to many cool scaling tricks you normally can't do on another synth.It seems awkward at first,but after a while you'll wonder why more synths don't handle controllers like thiis.
