[edit]i'm talking about the realistic skin, flat skins is too flat for my taste Wink[/edit]

nice knobs, and i like the cold colours Smile

but i think the skin needs some seperators (especially on the overview-page), a little more contrast (especially the combination panel) and you should tweak the colours of the sections names (too plastic right now, compared to the overall-cplor-theme)
well, i don't know if you can tweak the about window, if you can, do it Very Happy

overall i allready like this skin, definately looks better than the original skin and (way better than the downloadable skins), but it could be improved Cool

the skinning has its limitations ,especially the "plastic" buttons are deeper down in the code and not skinnable apart from colours (if Mark Henning reads this he could take this maybe as a request for improvements for later versions Wink ), so i just took some flashy ones , mainly to differ between the different areas you can browse to from the overview ( if you click on them you instantly navigate to the corresponding tab) .
it's true , also the overview could use some 'skinning freedom' , but i think it's not that tragical , just some cosmetics which Mark probably will take care of sooner or later ...

BTW i just updated the combination panel from both skins and the flat skin got some fresh dials Very Happy

In the next version, the "category"-buttons on the left will be skinnable too. In the current beta, this is already implemented and working. Some other things in skinning will change a little bit, as the new version will allow e.g. transparency.

What do you think about the possibility of individual backgrounds for each page?

The only thing which will remain a fixed item, is the about box.

@mark: ana is crazy and rather different from other synths. like it a lot.

dunno about the different backgrounds, the interface should be kept clear.

@plastique: both nice skins, i like the realistic more. thanks again.

Hi Mark ,

sounds like great things coming our way to improve skinning . Smile
Also using different backgrounds would be superb , as it can help to organize the layout a LOT (I first thought that this will interfere with the Vertical and Horizontal lines but if this can be adjusted by transparency: Love )

PS:These skins are just a warm-up , i plan to do some more in the future Very Happy

Different backgrounds not necessarily means completely different. But this allows e.g. setting separators as you want them or adjusting some other details to better fit the needs.

but could the about-box be changed a little?
right now it's colors are extreme, maybe you could create one that uses some color one can set in the ini file, things like that.
so it can't be removed, but tweaked to your needs Love

btw, plastique, i love the new version of the flat skin Very Happy
and i started to play around with it, changing details, if you don't mind i can post the result later.

It will. My current favourite looks like this:

The about-box is a bitmap. There is no easy way to realize the possibility for changing it's colors.

here's a little proposal for the about window (photomontage):

this is how it functions in many vstis ,i.e. you click on the plugin name somewhere displayed on the gui and the about window with further details opens as a pop-up (... and if you click on the pop-up afterwards it closes itself).
In my example above there is just one colour used for the "AM"-symbol which could be easier to adjust by ini.file Smile
(aprt from that you could gain some more screen estate)

today i updated both skins to a new version at a point where i am quite happy with them and no new additions should be expected for a while .

for those who followed the last updates here are the changes:

    - vertical and horizontal bars now included in the layout for better grouping of elements
    - combination panel visually improved
    - round edged option panels
    - changed envelope backgrounds

enjoy . Very Happy
