I have downloaded the demos of them both, and the soundquality (softer and more analog sounding) of Tassman is better in my ears.
Now the question: which of them uses most cpu power??? I am almost only using analog modules and almost no PM(Physical Modeling). I got a Mac G5 dual 2GHz and I hate when the cpu meter goes up to 90%

There isn't a simple answer because each Tassman/Reaktor module has different CPU requirements. You can create a synth and make it CPU friendly. Here's my take on both, and I've used both since they came out. Both let you create your own synthesizer. Reaktor has more bits and pieces to construct with, and a very large user community. So you'd think Reaktor is better. And maybe it is. On the other hand, I use Tassman frequently and Reaktor not very much. The sounds are the reason, but that is a very individual choice. I think this is because Tassman is basing its modules on natural sounds, whereas Reaktor is basing its modules on classic electronic circuit concepts. So it sounds "better" out of the box and lets you make things that easier to work with. It reminds me of computer languages. I have more freedom of choice when I program in C, but I can produce things faster that look better in C#. And that works both ways. If I wanted to produce an exact sound, I might use Reaktor. But I find I prefer Tassman because I can get things I like faster. And again, the CPU issue isn't the right question, because both will use up your CPU -- you'll be adding more and more modules. But you can also do what I do, which is create a track with Tassman and then freeze it.

tangerine- Reaktor is much, much more than a synth. It's an effects unit, sample mangler, bla bl a bla infinity. |
