Can't almost any of the major soft-samplers be programmed to do that?? Key word here is "programmed".. it's a lot of work. But, many people do that kind of work, because it is worth it to them.
Check out GigaStudio (the "cheap" version is only $159, with 96 voices of polyphony), or Halion, or Kontakt. Also in the running is VSampler, which is considerably cheaper than any of those, but I do not know if it can do the programming part. FWIW, other folks may also want to know that GigaStudio is offering "competitive upgrade" prices for owners of a lot of soft-samplers. If you are looking to spend a fair bit of cash, I really think Halion would do the trick. But I am not a big authority on soft samplers; Another one you could try is ShortCircuit; it is really one of the best samplers available if you want my 'opinion'. I am curious, why cc11? is that the footpedal or something? What I think you could do quite easily is get a copy of Energy Xt, as it has a wonderful sampler in it that can load VST effects as part of the patches, and then use some of the excellent MIDI stuff to set up volume changes that respond to whatever channel you want.
Yeah, on second thought, forget halion, get Energy Xt. You will be able to do whatever you can dream up, and it is not even nearly as difficult to figure out as some say it is. Cheerz.

@w:
ahh, it is the pedal. I see now. Seriously, with EnergyXT it would take you about 1 minute to rig that up. You can set the volume of one sample to be positively modulated by cc11, and the other sample to be negatively modulated by cc11. Or you could use one of the myriad of MIDI plugins to do all sorts of crazy shit. Give the demo a try before you spend a grand. Energy Xt is only 39 dollars! good luck. G.

No, I don't have Giga. I'm also not convinced you need a separate computer, unless you are going or *major* polyphony. Many people run Giga on the same machine as their host. It's only the "pros" over at Northern Sounds that have "render farms" for GigaStudio. I'm sure some Giga owner in here can chime in with more relevant advice. Why is it that you think Giga is the only one that will work? |
