i have a certain soundclip not made by me, tho i want to make something like it! i know its made using synth and efx, but as much as i tweak and tweak, i just cant get it similar! Aaaargghhh

any help would be appreciated! Help

here are a little mp3 of the wanted sound:
http://steffensen.panicnow.net/temp/synth01.mp3

i know it sounds just like a distorted guitar, but as said, i know its made with a synth and some form of distortion/overdrive..

ah well, i hope some guru in here could give it a go! Cool

mmmhhh... I don't like this sound, but I think it's done with Slayer (guitar synth bundled with Fruity) or stuff like that.

Maybe it's what you need!

hm..perhaps. will check out a demo of it and see!
perhaps using a guitar sample i got, and use some external filter/overdrive on it would make a similar result to?

i want it to sound like a raw guitar, but to still have some kind of synthish layer on it, so it sounds more synthish than guitarish. HiHi

Pump up the distortion on a saw based slightly pwmed wave. Antares tube would do nicely in devil mode logics distortion as well as any guitar effect overdrive/distortion driven hard.

well, thats just what i have been trying. but only with my creamware efx, wich i find the best on most things. Smile i will post up a mp3 clip with me playing and u'll see. Razz i get like 50% close to the sound i'm after, but i'm not there yet!

i havent tried the logic distortion, nore antarues tube yet tho. perhaps i should? i find it hard to believe anything's better than my creamware stuff tho. Embarassed

perhaps not very similar to what i aimed for, but still cool i think. nevermind my live-playing tho. Embarassed

What you're missing is the fifth that is in the original sound.
A) It's there Smile and
B) It makes the distortion sound more gritty.

Here's a very quick example, it's by no means sounding like the original (just used the first sound of the ES2 that popped up and slightly modified it, then slapped some Blood Overdrive on it), but you can clearly see how it's becoming closer to your original snipplet once the fifth is blending in. Maybe you should apply that to your patch.

Btw, sounds even closer when using Logic's pitch shifter slightly (I just blended in the third OSC in my example).

wow, thanks a lot sascha!
i didnt think much of wich chord i was using, my mind was more set on the efx etc. of course it makes a diff with the right chord!

tho i am already grabbing the "chord" using E and A. u mean i shall take on another note aswell then?

i dunno much about chords usually, i just play what i feel like.. Embarassed

I didn't play a chord, just single notes.
What I did was detuning the 3rd OSC of the ES2 by +7 semitones (a perfect fifth) and slowly blending it in until it sounded right.
As said, using the pitch shifter was giving almost as proper results (slightly blending in the mix, same setting, +7 semitones that is).

i see!
i used the pitch shifter to get a fifth of the Es1 now, i will try this using the ES2 now as well. i get a very good result! i still dont get that sound i am after, but this works to. Smile i guess its just a matter of playing with the dist..

thanks again sascha!

Slayer is a good option.

if you want it more synthish than guitarish, then you can try with a synth like Superwave, a fat sounding pad and put it through a guitar effect.
