here another stylistic experiment of mine,
this time I tried all written electronic jazz,
composed in Cubase with Tracker method note by note input, all synth sounds,

even though a different kind of jazz, this is also a tribute to that
wondefull band : Weather Report

Ah, too names that are gauranteed to make me listen: Liqih and Weather Report. Excellent stuff. It's always a pleasure to hear you jamming out (you can even jam out in step entry!). This is probably my favorite of the tunes you have posted so far...

Used to be one of the Ports biggest fans!!!

Knowing you know attempting to emulate the Ports compositions is no small task...I got a big kick out of it!

BTW: Saw the band in a small practice hall in Philly yrs ago. They were practicing with a ballet co. dancing to their music for a show in New York that night.Had seen them the previous night at the academy of music in Philly.
While Joe Zawinul was taking a break I walked over to him...even though I was shaking in my boots,I stoud with him and his,at the time, new juno`s and whatever.

He starts saying in his Austrian accent "These keyboards are so awesome are`nt they?" I just said "yyyyyeah".

He went on and on about them, just noding my head now and then only able to think,WOW,WAIT`LL I TELL MY BUDDYS I WAS TAlKING TO JOE!!!

Can`t wait till you consider doing a Mahavishnu Orchestra emulation!!! Shocked

Another Weather Report fan here ! Wink
The lead sound instantly reminded me of that band... what VSTi did you use for it ? I love it !!
I don't like the bass sound ( too cold and electronic for me) and find the drums a bit stiff tho with interesting variations.
IMHO, good track with wonderful swinging lead line but with too mechanichal rythm section. I miss also some modulations in the harmony...
Anyway, I'm very pleased to hear that kind of stuff here !
Go on Liqih ! Wink Wink Cool Cool Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

hi annode, thanks for listening, and you made me jelows for your story
about meeting Joe Zawinul , think I never saw WR live!

and ok, I go with Mahavishnu next time (!) , honestly I didn't started this track thinking of WR, but after adding harmonies I recognize the influence coming up <grin>

Polymerick, glad you like it, I know you mind jazz <grin>
and many thanks for your costructiive criticism, you are right I didn't work on the other parts as much as I did on lead line, I may do better, just somehow I like the synthetic bass (Steingerg VB-1), I prefer a pure synthetic bass,
it reminds me of Wayne Horowitz, than a bad emulation of a real one,
and a real jazz bass is VERY hard to emulate, too many nuances,

the synth I used for lead and chords is SynC Modular with a patch I made using feedback to frequency modulation

Way cool, liqih! It made me smile, which is very rare. One of the funnest songs I've ever heard. (And that's funnest as in, most fun, not funniest.)

yeah it's a kind of "mind jamming" : think a short musical phrase, try to draw it in the edit window with the mouse, listen in loop and move the notes until it matches your idea, think an extention, makes the loop longer and input other notes one by one to match the jamming idea
and so on,

but did you liked the result? <grin>
